Senior Policy Analyst

This position offers a unique opportunity to influence provincial agriculture policy while supporting the ministry's commitment to responsive, transparent, and effective regulation.

Reporting to the Director, Regulatory & Emergency Planning, the Senior Policy Analyst will:

  • Lead the development, review, and amendment of legislation, regulations, policies, and programs affecting Saskatchewan's agricultural sector.
  • Lead reviews aimed at reducing red tape, modernizing regulations, and improving regulatory effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and draft briefing notes and other high-level documents.
  • Provide strategic policy analysis and advice on complex regulatory, legal, operational, and stakeholder issues.
  • Serve as a key liaison with industry associations, service providers, municipalities, provincial and federal government partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Support major ministry and branch initiatives through policy development, research, coordination, and project leadership.
  • Identify emerging issues, risks, and opportunities affecting Saskatchewan's agricultural industries.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required includes:

  • A degree in public policy, political studies, economics, agriculture, business administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in policy development, legislative or regulatory analysis, government decision-making processes, stakeholder engagement, or program development.
  • Knowledge of Saskatchewan's agricultural sector and regulatory environment would be considered a strong asset.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Provide/obtain/exchange clear and accurate information verbally and in writing in both formal and informal settings;
  • Consult/work with other organizations, branches, colleagues, and individuals.
  • Search for and assess data/information to develop materials, report and/or make decisions, recommendations and conclusions.
  • Work independently and collaborate as a team member with co-workers, agencies, organizations and others.

  • Provide project management with detailed plans to meet strict and/or changing deadlines.
