As a Senior Policy Analyst, you'll tackle complex health challenges, shape government decision-making, and drive policy solutions that deliver better outcomes for New Zealanders. Working with sector leaders, clinicians, and stakeholders, you'll lead strategic projects, provide trusted advice, and help build policy capability across the Ministry. This is a role where your expertise will have real impact.
In this role you will…
• Lead complex policy development from problem definition through to implementation, evaluation, and advice to decision-makers.
• Prepare high-quality policy products, including Cabinet papers, legislation, guidelines, regulatory analysis, and ministerial advice.
• Provide project leadership to deliver strategic policy work programmes, manage risks, and achieve outcomes.
• Build strong relationships and influence across government, the health sector, and key stakeholders to support effective policy solutions.
• Champion policy excellence by mentoring colleagues, peer reviewing work, and ensuring policy advice reflects equity and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

Strong policy expertise, with a sound understanding of public policy, government processes, and political systems.
Excellent communication skills, able to distil complex issues into clear, persuasive advice for decision-makers.
Proven policy experience, including leading policy development and influencing outcomes across diverse stakeholder groups.
Analytical and adaptable thinker, able to quickly grasp new issues and navigate complex environments.
Exceptional relationship-building skills, fostering productive partnerships through collaboration, consultation, and influence.
