About the Role
We are seeking an independent, business-savvy Senior Power BI & Azure Data Engineer to join our team in a staff augmentation capacity. In this role, you will bridge the gap between complex enterprise data and executive decision-making. You won’t just build charts—you will design, optimize, and secure enterprise-grade data models that drive critical strategic outcomes.
As a key embedded team member, you will step straight into active Agile sprint cycles, collaborate directly with C-suite and department stakeholders, and deliver fast, scalable analytics solutions from day one.
Key Responsibilities
Dashboard Design & UX: Architect high-impact executive dashboards, operational reports, and financial scorecards optimized for desktop, mobile, and executive presentation.
Data Modeling & Architecture: Build robust Star Schemas (Fact/Dimension), manage complex calculations, and optimize report performance for massive datasets (+100M rows).
Advanced Analytics & DAX: Develop advanced DAX logic (calculation groups, dynamic measures, custom time intelligence) and leverage external tools like Tabular Editor and DAX Studio for performance tuning.
Data Pipelines & SQL: Write and optimize complex SQL queries using CTEs, window functions, views, and stored procedures to prepare, validate, and transform enterprise data.
Azure Integration: Connect, integrate, and transform data within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, ADLS) and modern platforms like Microsoft Fabric.
Security & Governance: Implement Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS) to maintain data compliance across all business units.
Stakeholder Enablement: Partner with cross-functional leaders to turn business problems into technical specs, presenting finished insights directly to executive leadership.
What We’re Looking For
Experience & Technical Mastery5+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise-scale Power BI solutions (Desktop, Service, Dataflows, Semantic Models).
3+ years within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem (Azure Synapse, Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake Storage).
Mastery of DAX & SQL: Deep expertise in advanced DAX calculations and master-level SQL query optimization.
Modern Tooling: Hands-on experience with Tabular Editor, DAX Studio, Git version control, and Azure DevOps for deployment.
Emerging Tech: Exposure to or strong interest in Microsoft Fabric (OneLake, Direct Lake mode).
Self-Starter: Thrives in a staff augmentation setup—quick to adapt, independent, and clear in communication.
Problem Solver: Exceptional root-cause analysis skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex performance bottlenecks.
Business Translator: Ability to articulate complex data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and leadership.
