Focus
- Lead the development of comprehensive estimates for mission critical commercial construction projects from conceptual planning through final bid submission.
- Develop detailed conceptual budgets, design development estimates, and hard bid proposals while maintaining exceptional cost accuracy.
- Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.
- Develop detailed material quantity calculations, prepare cost estimates, and assess project requirements for a wide range of building systems.
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, consultants, operations teams, and subcontractors throughout the preconstruction process.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure competitive and complete pricing.
- Develop comprehensive pricing packages, cost breakdowns, project assumptions, and client proposal materials to support competitive submissions.
- Support design build pursuits by providing constructability input, budgeting guidance, and cost planning throughout design progression.
- Develop project schedules and collaborate with internal teams to align estimating assumptions with execution strategies.
- Utilize advanced estimating technologies to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency throughout the preconstruction process.
- Mentor junior estimating professionals and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the estimating organization.
Skill Set
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Seven or more years of commercial construction estimating experience with demonstrated success in hard bid, design build, and conceptual estimating environments.
- Experience estimating mission critical, data center, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, industrial, or other technically complex commercial facilities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, including structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and self-performed concrete construction.
- Strong understanding of estimating methodologies throughout conceptual design, schematic design, design development, and construction documentation phases.
- Proficiency using modern estimating platforms including Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble, Revit, Primavera, and related preconstruction technologies.
- Ability to analyze construction documents, identify cost drivers, and recommend practical value engineering solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple estimates and aggressive project deadlines.
