Senior Process Engineer
Milacron is looking for an Extrusion Process Technician to join our team in Batavia, OH. In this position, you will be responsible for planning and executing extrusion trials, resolving customer processing issues, and using technical findings to support equipment and process improvements.
Work You’ll Do:
Plan, execute, analyze, and document extrusion trials in laboratory and customer environmentsDiagnose extrusion processing issues and recommend solutions related to equipment, tooling, materials, and process conditionsSupport customer startups, commissioning, resin qualifications, and process optimizationProvide processing input for screw, barrel, tooling, machine, and control system improvementsPrepare technical reports, support customer training, and share technical knowledge with Sales, Engineering, and Field Service
Qualifications:
Must-have qualifications
10 or more years of extrusion experience, including substantial hands-on process workExperience with single-screw and counter-rotating twin-screw extrusionPractical knowledge of polymer rheology, melting mechanisms, and thermal historyAbility to plan technical trials, analyze data, normalize results, and document findingsFamiliarity with screw design drawings and the ability to collaborate with screw design teamsStrong technical writing and customer-facing communication skillsAbility to travel approximately 50%, including occasional international travel and off-shift customer trials or startupsAbility to work safely in laboratory and manufacturing environments and meet the role’s job-related physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation
Preferred qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in plastics engineering, polymer science, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or equivalent experienceExperience with pipe, profile, sheet, tubing, compounding, or recycling applicationsPrevious extrusion equipment manufacturer or machinery-side experienceExperience with equipment runoff and performance validationFormal design of experiments or Six Sigma trainingFamiliarity with extrusion simulation tools
