Senior Process Engineer

The engineer should have experience in reviewing and revalidating existing PSVs and determining whether the existing valve remains suitable based on the current process conditions, equipment design conditions and applicable over pressure scenarios.


Key experience should ideally include:

  • PSV sizing, selection and revalidation
  • Understanding and application of API 520 and API 521
  • Identification/evaluation of credible over pressure and relief scenarios
  • Relief load calculations
  • Review of PSV set pressure, relieving pressure and accumulation
  • Review of existing PSV calculations and determination of adequacy
  • PSV datasheet preparation/review
  • P&ID/PFD and equipment datasheet review
  • Evaluation of scenarios such as:
    • Blocked outlet
    • Fire case
    • Control valve failure
    • Cooling/utility failure
    • Gas blow-by
    • Tube rupture, where applicable
    • Thermal expansion
    • Other process-specific over pressure scenarios
  • Review of PSV inlet/outlet piping and back pressure considerations
  • Recommendations for PSV resizing, replacement or re-setting, where required.


Requirements

Experience: Ideally 10+ years of relevant experience
Industry: Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Chemical, LNG, Gas Processing, etc.

Brownfield/operating-plant experience and previous PSV revalidation campaigns would be highly preferred.
