Senior Process - Mechanical Engineer (Test Benches)
Description
About the role
Arkadia Space is an European company specializing in space propulsion, headquartered in Castellón, Spain. We develop innovative green propulsion systems for the in-space market. Our systems are already flying, and we are scaling rapidly.
We design, build and test real hardware contributing to some of Europe's most inspiring space programmes.
As a Process / Mechanical Engineer at Arkadia Space, you will play a central role in the development of test benches to support the development and validation process of our new technologies and recurrent products.
You will lead the design, build and commission of test benches for rocket engine firing, tanks and components pressure testing, and altitude simulation facilities for engine vacuum testing.
As Arkadia expands its product range and cadence of production and validation of recurrent products, the complexity of the benches to be developed, upgraded and maintained will be increased.
What you'll do
Create and maintain P&ID of fluid installations
Preliminary sizing of test benches
Detailed design and analysis of:
Fluid network: including component selection, line design, instrumentation
Structural: main structure, supporting, thrust stands
Sizing vacuum installations
Coordination with the development team for the definition and implementation of requirements
Coordination with the automation team, among others:
The definition of acquisition and commanding requirements and their physical integration with the rest of the bench
Definition of visualization and operations panels
Assembly and integration of the benches designed
Commissioning and testing, with support from the testing team
Documentation generation: design justification, operations manuals, safety procedures, among others
Nice to have
Experience with cryogenic fluids
Experience with vacuum systems
Experience with rocket propellants
Fluid 1D modelling experience
Basic knowledge of Capital ElectraX
Basic knowledge of control and automation tools (LabVIEW)
What you'll need
A multidisciplinary profile with a strong background in process engineering, from analysis and design of pressurized fluid installations to real life implementation, with hands-on experience.
BSc. in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or similar
3 years of experience in process engineering or any other relevant engineering discipline related to fluid control
Strong understanding of:
Pressurized fluid systems
Pressure vessels (standards and operation)
Instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, load cells, etc.)
Data acquisition systems
Ground support equipment
Hands-on experience working with hardware
Strong ownership attitude and ability to coordinate across teams
Comfortable in fast-paced, hardware-driven environments
CAD experience, Siemens NX is a plus
