Job Description:
Product Analyst, Premium APIs & API Commercialization
Role summary
The Product Analyst, Premium APIs & API Commercialization will support the growth, distribution, and operationalization of UPS premium API capabilities. UPS APIs are reusable digital capabilities and data services that allow customers, partners, platforms, and UPS solutions to access UPS functionality, shipment information, visibility events, and other logistics capabilities.
This role will focus on helping UPS commercialize premium API capabilities across multiple distribution channels. Those channels may include the UPS Developer Portal for self-service API access, LynkUp-enabled solutions where APIs become part of broader UPS Digital products, and partner or intermediary platforms that consume UPS data or functionality on behalf of customers.
The analyst will help connect product capability, commercial model, distribution channel, usage visibility, and billing/reporting operations. The goal is to ensure UPS has the right API “ingredients” available, understands who is consuming them, supports the right go-to-market path, and operationalizes the reporting and billing processes needed to monetize premium API usage.
Key responsibilities
- Support the commercialization of UPS premium APIs across multiple distribution channels, including the UPS Developer Portal, LynkUp-enabled solutions, partner platforms, intermediaries, and customer-specific solutions.
- Help define which UPS API capabilities should be packaged as premium products, reusable data services, embedded solution components, or platform-enabled capabilities.
- Partner with UPS API teams, product teams, commercial teams, billing, reporting, technology, and operations stakeholders to clarify requirements and operational needs.
- Support self-service growth through the UPS Developer Portal by helping identify gaps in product readiness, documentation, customer onboarding, reporting, and enablement.
- Support API distribution through LynkUp by helping connect premium API capabilities to solution use cases, customer needs, and reusable integration patterns.
- Support partner platform and intermediary commercialization by helping identify where UPS data or API functionality is being consumed and whether the usage is tied to the appropriate commercial model.
- Support Track Alert and other premium API monetization efforts through usage analysis, reporting, customer/intermediary identification, issue follow-up, and commercial enablement.
- Help define and operationalize processes for API usage reporting, billing inputs, revenue leakage tracking, customer/intermediary visibility, and performance monitoring.
- Translate business, commercial, and operational needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, reporting needs, and stakeholder handoffs.
- Partner with commercial teams to support lead identification, customer follow-up, usage insights, billing questions, and API monetization opportunities.
- Maintain roadmap inputs, documentation, open issues, decision logs, stakeholder updates, and operational readiness materials related to premium API commercialization.
- Help identify where API capabilities should be made available as standalone developer products, embedded LynkUp capabilities, or partner-enabled offerings.
- Support internal communication and enablement so sales, solutions, product, and partner teams understand what premium APIs are available, how they can be used, and when they should be monetized.
Preferred experience and skills
- 4+ years in product analysis, business analysis, product operations, API product support, data analysis, billing operations, commercialization support, or technology delivery.
- 5–7 years preferred.
- Experience with APIs, developer portals, usage-based billing, reporting, SaaS/platform monetization, data products, customer/partner enablement, or logistics technology preferred.
- Ability to connect technical API capabilities to business use cases, commercial models, and operational processes.
- Strong analytical skills, especially around usage reporting, customer/intermediary identification, billing inputs, and performance tracking.
- Strong cross-functional coordination skills across product, technology, commercial, billing, reporting, and partner teams.
- Ability to bring structure to ambiguous commercialization and operational readiness work.
- Comfortable explaining API capabilities and usage models to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
