Senior Product Designer

Open 20d

Summary

Designs intuitive web and mobile learning experiences for Perlego’s textbook subscription platform, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver user-centered features.

About Perlego

Perlego is on a mission to make education accessible to everyone. Dubbed "The Spotify for Textbooks," we give learners worldwide unlimited access to over 1.5 million ebooks and educational resources from 9,000+ leading publishers. We partner with hundreds of universities, businesses, and training providers to put a library in every learner's pocket—and we’re just getting started.

How We Work

We organise into cross-functional tribes and squads. As a Product Designer at Perlego, you’ll work side by side with Product Managers, Software Engineers, QA, and CX specialists to solve real problems for our learners and partner institutions.

You’ll join a collaborative design team led by our Product Design Manager and Senior Product Designer. While our team owns overarching design standards and our core Design System, you will have high autonomy to own end-to-end user experiences within your assigned domains.

What You’ll Do

💙 User Experience & Product Delivery

  • Own End-to-End Design Execution: Take broad, complex user problems and turn them into elegant, intuitive product experiences across web and mobile platforms.
  • User Research & Validation: Work closely with CX and Product teams to gather insights, run usability tests, and validate design hypotheses before and after launch.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Help shift our design practice from reactive feature delivery to proactive, hypothesis-driven solution finding.

✏️ Craft, Process & Systems

  • Design System Integration: Work closely with our Design Lead / Design System owner to utilise, test, and contribute components to our design system.
  • Clear Handovers & Documentation: Maintain clean user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes (Figma), and clear developer documentation for seamless build cycles.
  • Raise the Quality Bar: Actively participate in design critiques, giving and receiving candid feedback to ensure visual and interaction design excellence across all touchpoints.

⭐ Collaboration & Alignment

  • Cross-Functional Partnering: Partner daily with PMs, Engineers, and QA on your bets to balance user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.
  • Impact & Outcomes: Track key performance metrics and user feedback post-launch to continuously iterate and improve product experiences.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of digital product design experience shipping high-quality web and mobile applications (SaaS, edtech, or consumer subscription experience is a big plus).
  • Strong Portfolio: Clear evidence of your end-to-end design process—from early discovery and research to wireframing, polished UI, and developer handover.
  • Mastery of Design Tools: Expert proficiency with Figma, prototyping tools, and modern design workflows.
  • Design System Experience: Hands-on experience building features using standardised component libraries and contributing back to team design systems.
  • Data & Research Mindset: Comfortable using quantitative data and qualitative user insights to justify design choices.
  • Agile & Collaborative: Experience working in cross-functional squads alongside software engineering teams.
  • Communication: Ability to clearly articulate design rationale and trade-offs to team members and cross-functional stakeholders.

Benefits

  • Hybrid Working: 2 days/week in our London office.
  • Salary: £55K
  • Learning & Development: Personal L&D budget, dedicated Learning Time, and regular Hackathons.
  • Time Off: 22 days annual leave (+1 per year of service), company closure between Christmas and New Year, and flexi bank holidays.
  • Home office budget: Budget to help you set up and to maintain!
  • Health & Wellbeing: Private medical, optical, and dental cover via Vitality, plus Cycle to Work scheme.
  • Work-from-overseas flexibility, sabbatical options, and matched parental leave.
