What you'll do

  • Design and implement the underlying systems that power Fin's key AI offerings, primarily utilizing the ML Python stack, while also contributing to the Rails application when necessary.
  • Collaborate with Machine Learning Scientists to evolve proof-of-concept code into robust, scalable solutions ready for production.
  • Work alongside product teams throughout the organization to define and enhance AI-driven features and improve customer experiences.
  • Engage in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from initial brainstorming and prototyping to implementation and rigorous testing.
  • Contribute to recruitment initiatives and provide mentorship to fellow engineers, supporting their professional development.
  • Elevate technical standards regarding performance, reliability, and operational excellence both within the AI Group and across the company.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
  • Analyze user feedback and system performance metrics to inform future iterations and enhancements of AI products.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering high-quality software products.
  • While prior machine learning experience is not mandatory, a solid foundation in software engineering principles is essential, with opportunities to learn about ML on the job.
  • Proven track record of making significant contributions in previous roles.
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language, such as Ruby, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Strong technical background with a commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
  • A preference for making progress rather than striving for perfection in all aspects of work.
  • An eagerness to advocate for effective outcomes and solutions.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline is preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience in data analytics or a statistical role would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms or services related to machine learning deployment.
  • Previous involvement in agile development methodologies.

Skills & tools

  • Proficient in Python, particularly within the machine learning stack.
  • Experience with Ruby on Rails for web application development.
  • Knowledge of machine learning systems, including supervised models, unsupervised clustering, and transformer neural networks.
