Summary

Senior Product Manager in ABC Digital Product, owning strategy, roadmaps and delivery of consumer digital products across web, mobile and TV used by millions of Australians. Day to day: audience research, data-driven prioritisation and experimentation, and leading cross-functional design, engineering and data teams, with growing use of AI.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Product Manager to join ABC Digital Product and lead the strategy, development and performance of digital products used by millions of Australians.

You’ll own complex product problems from understanding audience needs and identifying opportunities through to setting product direction, prioritising investment and delivering measurable outcomes.

Working closely with designers, engineers, data specialists and stakeholders across the ABC, you’ll shape product strategy and roadmaps, lead multidisciplinary teams and deliver initiatives that improve audience experience, engagement and growth.

Depending on the portfolio, this could include:

  • Evolving how audiences discover and navigate ABC content across web, mobile and TV
  • Delivering better live and on-demand viewing experiences
  • Using audience insight, data and experimentation to grow engagement and retention
  • Simplifying product experiences, modernising digital foundations and applying AI and emerging tools to accelerate product outcomes
  • Building strong relationships with peers across the ABC, including teams in Technology, Screen, News, Policy and other areas, to deliver shared audience outcomes.

The Job

  • Define and lead product strategy, vision and roadmaps aligned to ABC strategic objectives, audience needs and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop a deep understanding of audiences through research, behavioural data, analytics and market insights to identify opportunities and inform product decisions.
  • Lead product management across the full lifecycle, from discovery and prioritisation through to delivery, launch and ongoing optimisation.
  • Establish meaningful product metrics and use data, experimentation and audience feedback to drive continuous improvement and performance.
  • Monitor market, technology and competitive trends, identifying opportunities to strengthen ABC's digital products and audience experiences.
  • Partner closely with design, engineering and data teams to explore problems, validate solutions and deliver high-quality products and services.
  • Navigate technical, organisational and strategic complexity, balancing competing priorities and making pragmatic product and investment decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify products, improve performance and reduce unnecessary complexity across the product portfolio.
  • Leverage AI capabilities and emerging technologies to enhance product discovery, analysis, decision-making and delivery.
  • Build strong relationships across Product & Technology and the broader ABC, communicating strategy, insights, recommendations and trade-offs effectively to stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Communicate strategy, insights, recommendations and trade-offs clearly to senior leaders and stakeholders

About You

  • Proven experience developing and leading consumer digital products, platforms, or services at scale, with a strong track record of delivering measurable customer, audience, and business outcomes.
  • Strong product strategy and judgement, with the ability to identify, prioritise, and solve the most impactful opportunities and challenges.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams through influence and collaboration across product, design, engineering, and data.
  • Strong analytical capability, using data, customer insights, research, and experimentation to inform decisions, measure success, and improve outcomes.
  • Ability to translate complex information and ambiguity into clear product direction, priorities, and roadmaps.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to build alignment across diverse groups.
  • Demonstrated success building strong cross-functional relationships and creating high-performing team environments.
  • Deep understanding of product management practices, including discovery, strategy, roadmapping, experimentation, and performance measurement.
  • Curiosity about emerging technologies, including AI, combined with a pragmatic, outcome-focused approach and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience in streaming, media, entertainment, publishing, or other large-scale consumer digital environments is desirable but not essential.
