About the Role

As a Product Manager at Econolite, you own the complete product lifecycle—from strategic vision through market success. You are the connective tissue between customer needs, market opportunities, and what our engineering, operations, and go-to-market teams build and deliver. You combine business acumen with technical depth, market intelligence with customer empathy, and strategic thinking with execution discipline.

This is not a single-function role. You will work across product discovery and research, drive requirements and prioritization, shepherd products through design and delivery, and then lead launches and drive ongoing market success. You own the outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Market Insight

  • Own product strategy and maintain a rolling 12–24-month roadmap aligned with customer needs, market trends, competitive intelligence, return on investment (ROI), and company priorities.
  • Conduct market research, customer interviews, competitive assessments, and usage analysis to identify unmet needs, emerging opportunities, buyer requirements, and purchasing criteria.
  • Create annual product business plans and track progress against revenue, profitability, adoption, and other agreed business objectives.
  • Establish and evaluate product pricing, margins, and business cases; recommend investments and changes that improve product value and commercial performance.

Product Discovery and Development

  • Lead product discovery with customers, engineering, design, and other stakeholders to define problems, evaluate solutions, and validate priorities.
  • Translate customer needs and product strategy into clear, prioritized requirements, acceptance criteria, and measurable success criteria.
  • Partner with engineering to scope releases, evaluate technical trade-offs, prioritize competing requests, and align delivery plans with product goals.
  • Work with engineering, design, operations, and support throughout development to ensure product quality, usability, manufacturability, delivery readiness, and supportability.
  • Coordinate cross-functional decisions and handoffs from discovery through development and release, maintaining accountability for product outcomes.

Launch and Market Success

  • Plan and lead product and feature launches, coordinating readiness across operations, support, sales, marketing, and channel partners.
  • Develop differentiated product positioning, messaging, and value propositions that address customer needs and competitive alternatives.
  • Partner with marketing to develop demand-generation programs and create product collateral, presentations, demonstrations, and other sales tools.
  • Train sales teams and channel partners on product capabilities, customer value, competitive positioning, and buying considerations.
  • Support strategic customer opportunities through presentations, demonstrations, technical product guidance, and market insight.
  • Build relationships with customers and channel partners to gather feedback, resolve product concerns, support retention, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Represent Econolite at trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings; serve as a credible product advocate and industry resource.
  • Monitor product adoption, customer satisfaction, revenue, margins, and ROI; use results to improve the roadmap, positioning, and market performance.
  • Represent Econolite professionally, support its Brand Promise, and promote customer service and product quality. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in product management or closely related technical product roles, with demonstrated responsibility for product strategy, development, launch, and market performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop product roadmaps, prioritize requirements, and translate customer and market insights into actionable product decisions.
  • Experience working directly with engineering and other cross-functional teams to deliver technical products or meaningful product releases from discovery through launch.
  • Technical aptitude in electronics, software, or connected systems, including the ability to discuss product architecture, deployment, integration, and technical trade-offs with engineering teams. Coding experience is not required.
  • Working knowledge of product economics, including pricing, revenue, margins, business cases, and ROI analysis.
  • Experience supporting product positioning, launches, and sales enablement, including explaining technical capabilities in terms of customer value.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with executives, engineers, customers, and channel partners.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority, manage competing priorities, and follow through on commitments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 30%.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in intelligent transportation systems (ITS), traffic management, infrastructure technology, industrial technology, or another complex technical market.
  • Experience with traffic signal control, traffic controllers, or related transportation hardware and software.
