Senior Product Manager, Payments
About
We started to help maximize lives–both the lives of our customers and the lives of our team – so that everyone can experience all that life has to offer. For our employees, our promise is that is more than just a job; it’s an opportunity to unlock one’s potential, where learning is celebrated and impact is realized.
We are more than a fast-paced, high-growth tech company; we care about our people and take career progression seriously. This is your career and our aim is to supercharge it through the people, the work, and the programs that fuel who we are.
About the role
Payments at spans two business models with different mechanics. Our travel business runs high-value one-time transactions with authorization holds, delayed capture, and cancellation driven disputes. Our subscription business runs recurring billing, where retry logic, credential lifecycle, and involuntary churn drive the numbers. You will own both.
This is an individual contributor role. You will be the lead of the payments MAT (mission-aligned team): running the team’s planning and day-to-day execution against the payments roadmap, and leading it through clarity, credibility, and influence rather than reporting lines.
The role will report to the Director of Product and work closely with the Head of Payments, who sets the overall payments strategy and roadmap. Fraud prevention sits with a separate department, and disputes sits with a dedicated disputes function. You will partner with both, as routing, authorization rate, and 3DS decisions cut across all three.
About the team
This role sits on the Product team at . We operate as a cross-functional, mission-aligned team (MAT), partnering with engineering, product, data, and commercial leaders to provide best in class payments experiences to our customers and partners, while increasing the likelihood of positive, profitable transactions. The MAT is made up primarily of engineers, along with a technical account manager.
What you’ll be working on:
Contribute to the payments roadmap. Work with the Head of Payments on the roadmap for your area, and own prioritization of the MAT’s backlog within it. Bring data-backed recommendations when you see an opportunity to change course.
Write the requirements. PRDs and business requirements that engineers can build from, covering failure paths, reconciliation impact, and explicit scope boundaries.
Lead the payments MAT day to day. Run the team’s planning and rituals, keep the backlog prioritized against the roadmap, and be the team’s main point of contact for stakeholders. Partner with the engineering manager, who owns engineering execution and the engineers themselves.
Drive delivery. Sequence work, remove blockers, and manage scope within the agreed roadmap, escalating tradeoffs that change priorities or timelines to the Head of Payments.
Improve routing and authorization performance. Run routing and retry experiments, evaluate the results, and recommend changes.
Support payments market entry as we expand internationally, researching local payment method coverage and writing requirements for new-market launches, in partnership with the Head of Payments.
Use data to recommend improvements. Analyze authorization rates, decline patterns, cost per transaction, and settlement performance, and bring recommendations to the team and the Head of Payments.
Contribute to monthly payments reporting for Finance, covering delivery, performance against targets, and upcoming priorities.
Track industry and regulatory change (e.g., SCA, network rules, APM adoption) and flag its impact on your roadmap.
What we’re looking for:
5+ years of experience in Product Management, including 1+ year working on payments, fintech, checkout, or billing products.
Working knowledge of a modern payments stack, including gateways, processors and acquirers, tokenization, and alternative payment methods.
Understanding of one-time payment mechanics (authorization holds, delayed capture, settlement) or recurring billing mechanics (dunning, retries, credential-on-file), with curiosity to learn the other.
A track record of shipping. You have shipped features end to end with engineering, from requirements through launch.
Product craft. You write clear requirements, you can explain the reasoning behind a prioritization decision, and you are disciplined about scope.
Technical and data fluency sufficient to work closely with engineers, understand technical tradeoffs, and analyze performance data.
Comfortable coordinating a cross-functional team and keeping work moving without formal authority, and knowing when to escalate.
Strong written and verbal communication. You can communicate clearly with engineers and stakeholders.
Resourceful and self-directed. You can manage shifting priorities in a fast-moving environment.
Bonus points for:
Exposure to payments launches in new markets, particularly in APAC, EEA or LATAM.
Experience in high-volume consumer businesses, and familiarity with marketplace, travel, or e-commerce payment flows.
Exposure to disputes and chargeback data.
