Position Overview
The Government of Ontario is seeking a Senior Product Manager with 8+ years of product management experience to lead product planning, strategy, roadmap execution, stakeholder engagement, and delivery within a data and AI environment.
The successful candidate will serve as the key liaison between clients, business stakeholders, and development teams, translating business strategy and customer needs into product strategy, high-level requirements, roadmaps, and actionable delivery plans.
This role requires a strong combination of product management expertise, Agile and traditional project management experience, stakeholder management, influencing skills, and excellent communication abilities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the liaison between clients and development teams, ensuring business and customer needs are clearly understood and translated into delivery outcomes.
  • Translate business strategy into product strategy and subsequently translate product strategy into high-level requirements.
  • Own and execute the product roadmap, including prioritization based on business and customer impact.
  • Lead product planning and execution throughout the entire product lifecycle.
  • Gather, analyze, and prioritize product and customer requirements.
  • Define and communicate the product vision, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and goals.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer experience, identify product gaps, and generate ideas to improve customer outcomes.
  • Manage all aspects of the product lifecycle, including customer feedback, requirements, issues, priorities, and enhancements.
  • Provide insights, information, and collateral to stakeholders relating to specific product areas.
  • Create buy-in for the product vision among internal stakeholders and key external partners.
  • Act as the Product Owner in Agile ceremonies and actively support Agile delivery practices.
  • Scope and prioritize activities based on business value and customer impact.
  • Translate product strategy and requirements into detailed requirements and prototypes, where appropriate.
  • Work closely with engineering and development teams to support timely delivery and optimal use of resources.
  • Drive product launches and coordinate with executives, communications/public relations teams, and other product management stakeholders.
  • Develop and support product pricing and positioning strategies, where applicable.
  • Evaluate promotional and communication plans to ensure alignment with product strategy and that product messaging is effectively communicated.
  • Act as a product evangelist, building awareness and understanding of the product across stakeholder groups.
  • Represent the product and organization when engaging with customers and stakeholders to solicit feedback on products and services.
  • Operate effectively in an Agile, fast-paced, data-driven environment.


Requirements

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
  • 8+ years of experience in Product Management.
  • Experience in the Data & AI domain.
  • Experience with both Agile and traditional project management methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a liaison between clients and development teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into product strategy and high-level requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience owning and executing product roadmaps.
  • Experience providing insights and collateral to stakeholders concerning specific product areas.
  • Experience managing products throughout their lifecycle, including customer feedback, requirements, and issues.
  • Experience acting as a Product Owner in Agile ceremonies.
  • Ability to work effectively in an Agile, fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Relevant education.

Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a Senior Product Manager with 8+ years of hands-on product management experience, preferably within complex enterprise or government environments. They should have strong Data & AI domain experience, a proven track record of owning product roadmaps, translating business strategy into product requirements, and working closely with technical/development teams.
Strong stakeholder management, influencing, communication, Agile delivery, and Product Owner experience are critical to success in this position.
