MCO is seeking a highly experienced Senior Product Owner to lead Trade Surveillance, Sales Practices, Suitability, and Reg BI capabilities within the Know Your Transaction product suite. This role will shape products that help banks, broker-dealers, wealth managers, investment advisers, and other financial institutions detect market abuse, monitor conduct risk, and demonstrate regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will combine senior product ownership experience with deep domain knowledge in capital markets, market conduct, trade surveillance, suitability, and best-interest obligations. Prior experience at a bank, broker-dealer, exchange, regulator, or compliance technology provider such as NICE Actimize, Nasdaq SMARTS, SteelEye, Eventus, Trading Technologies, ACA, Behavox, LSEG, or similar providers is strongly preferred.

As Senior Product Owner, you will:
  • Own and drive product capabilities for trade surveillance, market abuse detection, insider dealing, front running, layering, spoofing, wash trading, marking the close, cross-market manipulation, and related conduct-risk scenarios.
  • Translate regulations and supervisory expectations including MAR, MiFID II, SEC, FINRA, CFTC, Reg BI, and suitability obligations into clear product requirements, detection logic, workflows, and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with engineering and architecture teams on trading data models, FIX-based order flows, order and execution lifecycle, market data integration, alert generation, case management, explainability, and auditability.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Roadmap
    • Own the vision, roadmap, backlog, and delivery priorities for Trade Surveillance, Sales Practices, Suitability, and Reg BI capabilities.
    • Prioritize product work based on customer needs, regulatory expectations, commercial value, competitive differentiation, and technical feasibility.
    • Evaluate market trends, competitor capabilities, regulatory developments, and customer feedback to inform product direction.

  • Trade Surveillance & Conduct Product Leadership
    • Define and evolve surveillance scenarios covering insider dealing, front running, layering, spoofing, wash trades, marking the close, quote stuffing, excessive cancellations, suspicious trading around news, and related market-abuse typologies.
    • Define requirements for sales practice and suitability monitoring, including recommendation review, customer profile matching, product appropriateness, concentration, turnover, cost-to-equity, complex products, conflicts, and Reg BI best-interest obligations.
    • Translate regulations including MAR, MiFID II, SEC, FINRA, CFTC, FCA expectations, Reg BI, and suitability obligations into clear product requirements, rules, workflows, controls, reports, and audit evidence.

  • Trading Data, FIX & Market Data
    • Define requirements for order, execution, trade, allocation, instrument, account, client, representative, and market data ingestion.
    • Apply strong understanding of FIX concepts, OMS/EMS workflows, order lifecycle events, parent/child orders, partial fills, cancellations, amendments, executions, allocations, and booking flows.
    • Partner with Engineering and Architecture on schemas, APIs, file-based interfaces, event models, data quality controls, enrichment, reconciliation, and investigation explainability.

  • Delivery & Stakeholder Management
    • Write clear epics, features, user stories, acceptance criteria, business rules, workflow requirements, data requirements, and non-functional requirements.
    • Lead backlog refinement and participate actively in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, reviews, release readiness, and post-release evaluation.
    • Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Architecture, QA, Design, Sales, Customer Success, Implementation, Support, and Compliance SMEs.
    • Act as a credible domain expert in customer workshops, demos, RFP responses, analyst briefings, roadmap discussions, and competitive positioning.

Requirements

Required Experience:
  • 12+ years of Product Management, Product Ownership, Business Analysis, Surveillance, Compliance Technology, Capital Markets Technology, or related experience.
  • Proven experience owning or delivering trade surveillance, market abuse, sales practice, suitability, Reg BI, conduct compliance, or related capital markets compliance products.
  • Strong understanding of order and trade lifecycle, FIX concepts, OMS/EMS workflows, market data, reference data, instrument data, and trading venue behavior.
  • Deep knowledge of surveillance typologies such as insider dealing, front running, layering, spoofing, wash trading, marking the close, suspicious trading around news, and excessive cancellations.
  • Strong understanding of suitability and sales practice supervision, including recommendations, customer investment profile, product risk, turnover, concentration, conflicts, best-interest obligations, and supervisory evidence.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks such as MAR, MiFID II, SEC, FINRA, CFTC, FCA expectations, Reg BI, and FINRA suitability obligations.
  • Experience at a bank, broker-dealer, exchange, regulator, wealth manager, asset manager, or compliance technology provider is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of platforms such as NICE Actimize, Nasdaq SMARTS, SteelEye, Eventus Validus, Trading Technologies, ACA, Behavox, LSEG, eFlow, TradingHub, or similar solutions is a strong advantage.

Product, Delivery & Technical Skills:
  • Strong experience developing product roadmaps, prioritizing complex backlogs, and translating strategy into actionable delivery plans.
  • Ability to write clear epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflow requirements, data requirements, and non-functional requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to reason through trading scenarios, data lineage, alert logic, false positives, model tuning, and investigation workflows.
  • Technical fluency in APIs, SQL, data structures, file-based feeds, data quality controls, and scalable SaaS platforms.
  • Proficient in Jira, Confluence, or similar product delivery and documentation tools.
  • Exposure to AI, ML, LLM-assisted analytics tools investigation workflows, alert prioritization, explainability, or model governance.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to bridge business, compliance, trading, data, and engineering perspectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives with multiple dependencies and competing priorities.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to support demos, RFPs, customer workshops, analyst conversations, and competitive positioning.
  • High ownership mindset, attention to detail, and ability to create clarity in ambiguous or evolving regulatory and product areas.
