Senior Product Owner I, Phoenix
Summary
Senior Product Owner who leads delivery of a defined subsystem of ICON's Phoenix program from the Austin, TX campus: owning on-time, on-budget delivery, task prioritization, stakeholder feedback, and risk tracking for a team building industrial and robotic construction equipment. Requires 8+ years of relevant engineering experience plus Jira/Agile.
ICON is looking for a Senior Product Owner, to lead the work on the defined subsystem of Phoenix. As a Product Owner, at ICON, you will be responsible for the product deliverables to be accomplished by your team. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX campus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the accountable party reporting to the Product Manager for timely & on-budget delivery of products meeting all requirements and interface needs.
- Proactively escalate all budget, schedule, priority, etc. issues to the Product Manager.
- Coordinate and consult with all functional leads to ensure processes are followed and there are consistent best practices amongst the team.
- Manage prioritization of tasks to ensure alignment with business and product goals and ensure tasks are updated in the Master Schedule.
- Coordinate and consult with all other Product Owners to ensure all high-level Product requirements are met.
- Capture and integrate feedback from stakeholders, customers, and end-users to ensure the product is solving the right problems.
- Ensure all necessary Functional Disciplines are informed of changes and implementations that impact their function.
- Record, manage, and track all risks for the product.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. degree in Systems Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant science with 8 years of relevant experience or an associates degree in engineering or technology with 10+ years equivalent experience or proven experience in similar roles.
- Proven record of excelling within an engineering development team to deliver on-time milestones.
- Ability to use first principles creatively to solve difficult problems.
- Experience with the design and development of industrial equipment and machinery, industrial robotics, and mobile robotics, and an understanding and adapting to the field requirements for such machines, with knowledge of complex automation systems.
- Experience in working with manufacturers, and distributors, and building external partnerships.
- Proven track record of delivering products that meet customer requirements.
- Adept at communicating in a collaborative team environment and seeking optimum solutions with other team members.
- Knowledge of Jira and the AGILE methodology of project management.
- A service-oriented attitude when in a support role.
- Ability to prioritize and stay cool in a dynamic start-up environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 4+ Years experience in Product Management, Product Development, technical lead, or similar roles.
- Proven understanding of OSHA, CE, UL, ISO, Machinery Directive, and other governing rules for machine certification.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Must be prepared to work, in part, in extreme environments: temps > 100 degrees or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity, etc.
- Must be able to travel 4+ weeks per year internationally.
