Description

Help Unlock Additional Recovery from High-Value Nigerian Assets

Energi Talent Resourcing has been retained by a leading indigenous upstream exploration and production company to identify a Senior Production Geologist who will play a critical role in reservoir optimisation, development planning, and production enhancement across producing assets in Nigeria.

This position sits at the center of integrated subsurface decision-making—working alongside reservoir engineers, production teams, wells specialists, and asset leadership to maximise recovery and strengthen long-term field performance.

If you enjoy solving complex reservoir challenges and influencing well placement and production strategy, this is a role where your work will directly translate into measurable asset value.

The Role

As Senior Production Geologist, you will support development and production optimisation activities through advanced geological interpretation, reservoir characterisation, and integrated subsurface collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting field development planning and well placement strategies
  • Delivering reservoir characterisation and static modelling insights
  • Integrating seismic, well log, and production datasets
  • Providing geological support during drilling operations
  • Identifying reservoir compartmentalisation risks and recovery opportunities
  • Contributing to reserves optimisation and asset performance improvement
  • Supporting multidisciplinary subsurface workflows across development assets
  • Mentoring junior geoscientists and strengthening technical delivery capability

Why This Role Is Different

This is not a routine production support role.

You will contribute directly to:

  • production uplift initiatives
  • recovery factor improvement programmes
  • drilling decision support
  • reservoir performance optimisation
  • development planning across mature and growth assets

You will be working inside an operator actively progressing assets through development optimisation and reserves expansion programmes across Nigeria’s producing basins.

Requirements

Candidate Profile

We are seeking an experienced production geologist with:

  • 10–15 years’ upstream experience in production geology
  • At least 6 years supporting producing assets within an E&P operator environment
  • Strong reservoir characterisation capability
  • Experience supporting drilling operations and well delivery
  • Working knowledge of seismic interpretation and rock physics integration
  • Strong capability in Petrel, Geoteric, RockDoc or equivalent platforms
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary subsurface teams

A postgraduate qualification in Geoscience or a related discipline is advantageous.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

You will bring:

  • strong reservoir insight
  • confident subsurface interpretation judgment
  • practical field-development support capability
  • technical collaboration across wells, production, and reservoir teams
  • the ability to translate geology into production performance improvement

Benefits

Why Join This Organisation

Our client is an established Nigerian operator with:

  • producing onshore and offshore assets
  • active development optimisation programmes
  • near-term drilling opportunities
  • strong technical collaboration culture
  • a mandate to grow reserves and recovery through integrated subsurface execution

This role offers genuine influence—not just analysis responsibility.
