Senior Production Planner

Open 24d

Purpose: The Senior Production Planner is responsible for MRP/MPS planning across all manufacturing sites and day-to-day / week-to-week production scheduling for the corporate manufacturing facility. This role is the primary link between customer demand, production execution, material readiness, purchasing priorities, and on-time delivery performance.

The first-year expectation is hands-on scheduling execution, shortage management, expedite coordination, and recovery planning. Over time, as operations develops stronger zone-level scheduling support, the role should shift more focus toward material readiness, capacity planning, process discipline, and proactive shortage prevention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Production Planning & Scheduling

  • Own the production schedule for the corporate manufacturing site, including daily priorities, weekly plan alignment, WIP flow, expedites, and recovery actions.
  • Develop and maintain schedules that support customer demand, available capacity, material readiness, and on-time delivery goals.
  • Coordinate schedule changes caused by customer demand shifts, material constraints, labor constraints, quality issues, and production interruptions.
  • Work directly with operations leadership to validate priorities and ensure the schedule is executable on the floor.

MRP/MPS & Multi-Site Planning

  • Own MRP/MPS planning activities across all manufacturing locations.
  • Review MRP recommendations, planned orders, exceptions, demand changes, and supply signals to identify risk before production or customer delivery is impacted.
  • Maintain planning discipline around lead times, planning parameters, inventory signals, and schedule alignment.
  • Coordinate with site-level planners or operations owners at non-corporate sites while maintaining centralized visibility to material and demand risk.

Material Readiness & Purchasing Coordination

  • Lead the connection between the production schedule and purchasing priorities.
  • Identify material shortages and at-risk POs that could impact next-week and future production schedules.
  • Drive weekly shortage reviews with Purchasing and Operations, including clear owners, due dates, supplier commitments, and escalation needs.
  • Translate MRP and schedule requirements into actionable purchasing priorities without becoming the buyer of record.
  • Support supplier escalation efforts when delivery performance threatens production or customer commitments.

OTD, Expedites & Recovery Planning

  • Support on-time delivery performance through proactive planning, recovery actions, and cross-functional issue resolution.
  • Manage expedite priorities and recovery plans for critical customer orders.
  • Monitor past-due orders, WIP constraints, shortage risks, and schedule misses.
  • Provide clear communication to Supply Chain, Customer Service, Purchasing, and Operations on risks and recovery timing.
  • All other duties as assigned
