Senior Professional Services Engineer
You will deliver customer engagements covering GitLab installation, migration, training, and advisory services. You will plan and execute deployments from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures using infrastructure and configuration as code. You will lead migrations to GitLab SaaS and self-managed deployments, advise customers on reliable and secure workflows, and manage multiple engagements. You will partner with project stakeholders, share customer feedback with product and engineering teams, and mentor other Professional Services Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Deliver GitLab Professional Services engagements, including installation, migration, training, and advisory services.
- Plan and execute GitLab deployments from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures.
- Lead migrations from source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed GitLab.
- Partner with Engagement Managers and Project Managers to improve delivery processes.
- Advise customers on implementation plans and next steps.
- Share customer feedback with product and engineering teams.
- Mentor Associate and Intermediate Professional Services Engineers.
- Manage and deliver multiple customer engagements.
Requirements
- Professional exposure to infrastructure as code or configuration as code technologies, such as Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef.
- Professional exposure to at least two cloud providers, such as AWS, GCP, or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience using, deploying, or configuring GitLab and understanding Git and source control workflows.
- Experience delivering customer-facing installation, migration, training, and advisory services.
- Ability to independently manage projects and lead other Professional Services Engineers on complex engagements.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to identify root causes, propose options and tradeoffs, and resolve issues across multiple customer engagements.
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote, asynchronous organization.
- Location in Japan and full working rights in Japan.
