IDrive 360 Enterprise Disk Image Backup is an agent-based, centrally managed enterprise backup and recovery solution for Windows systems. An agent installed on each protected machine discovers its disks and volumes and creates complete disk images, including the operating system, installed applications, system configuration, partition layout, and user data. It enables IT administrators to recover an entire machine, individual disks, or selected volumes following hardware failure, operating-system corruption, ransomware, or data loss.

About the Job

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take technical ownership of the IDrive 360 Enterprise Disk Image Backup and Recovery application. You will bring strong software engineering expertise and experience in building reliable, high-performance systems involving concurrency, storage, databases, networking, and cloud services.

In this role, you will work primarily with Go, understand existing architecture, optimize system performance, and develop reliable backup and restore workflows. You will design scalable solutions for processing large volumes of data, troubleshoot complex production issues, and maintain data integrity across backup and recovery operations.

What you will be doing:

Architecture & Software Development

• Own the architecture, development, testing, and technical direction of the DiskImage engine.
• Build reliable, maintainable, and high-performance software primarily in Go.
• Maintain clear contracts between the engine, desktop client, storage layer, and change-tracking components.
• Review code and guide architectural decisions without compromising backup or restore correctness.
• Improve existing designs incrementally while controlling technical risks and regressions.

Concurrency & Performance Optimization

• Design concurrent, memory-bounded pipelines for reading, processing, and uploading large amounts of data.
• Optimize disk throughput, network utilization, CPU usage, memory consumption, and database performance.
• Diagnose complex production issues involving concurrency, resource contention, data consistency, and performance.
• Use profiling, structured logs, metrics, and reproducible test cases to identify bottlenecks.

Backup & Recovery Management

• Develop and maintain full and incremental backup workflows.
• Maintain file-level, volume-level, complete-disk, and system restore capabilities.
• Design solutions that scale to multi-terabyte volumes and millions of files.
• Implement safe retry, cancellation, fallback, recovery, and interruption-handling mechanisms.
• Ensure data correctness across deduplication, compression, encryption, storage, and restoration.

Storage & Database Management

• Maintain metadata databases, indexes, manifests, catalogs, and recovery-point information.
• Integrate with local and cloud-based object-storage repositories.
• Work with storage systems and databases to maintain data integrity and performance.

Windows Systems Integration

• Work with Windows services, snapshots, filesystems, raw-disk access, and inter-process communication.
• Maintain integration between the engine and Windows-based storage and change-tracking components.

Testing, Debugging & Documentation

• Create automated tests for correctness, performance, failure recovery, and large-scale workloads.
• Document critical workflows, storage contracts, operational procedures, and design decisions.

AI-Assisted Development & Collaboration

• Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to accelerate code exploration, debugging, testing, reviews, and documentation.
• Independently verify AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, and performance.
• Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to convert requirements into practical technical solutions.

What we expect from you:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong experience in Go, C++, C#, or another systems-oriented language, with the ability to work primarily in Go.
• Strong understanding of concurrency, synchronization, worker pools, asynchronous I/O, backpressure, and cancellation.
• Experience building applications that process or transfer large amounts of data.
• Experience optimizing memory, CPU, disk I/O, network throughput, and application latency.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across multiple software layers.
• Experience with SQL databases, preferably SQLite, including indexing, transactions, batching, and query optimization.
• Experience with cloud or object storage such as S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage.
• Understanding of data integrity, hashing, compression, encryption, checksums, and failure recovery.
• Experience developing or supporting software on Windows.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar codebases and independently own complex features.
• Experience with profiling and diagnostic tools such as Go pprof, ETW, Windows Performance Analyzer, or Process Monitor.
• Experience with storage systems, filesystems, databases, distributed systems, virtualization, networking, or infrastructure software.
• Clear technical communication, code-review, and documentation skills.
• Practical experience using LLM-based coding assistants for code analysis, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation.
• Ability to identify incorrect AI-generated assumptions and validate output through code review, tests, profiling, and source documentation.
• Awareness of privacy and security risks when providing proprietary code or sensitive information to AI tools.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech.) from a recognized university preferred.

Good to have:

• Prior experience in developing backup and recovery products.
• Experience with backup, disaster recovery, deduplication, snapshots, or content-addressed storage.
• Knowledge of Windows VSS, NTFS, MFT, USN Journal, or raw-disk access.
• Windows WDK, kernel-driver, or C/C++ experience.
• Experience with C#/.NET, WPF, Windows services, or named-pipe communication.
