Senior Programmer Analyst – .NET / MVC
Summary
A senior developer contract (via Upstaff) for Service New Brunswick to modernize the Student Financial Services application. Day to day: building secure ASP.NET Core MVC applications, REST APIs, SQL Server database work, and identity management within an Agile/Scrum team using Azure DevOps.
- Participate in the analysis, design, development, integration, configuration, testing, and implementation of enhancements to the Student Financial Services solution.
- Design and develop secure, scalable, maintainable, and performant applications using .NET / ASP.NET Core and MVC.
- Translate User Stories, functional requirements, technical specifications, and solution architecture into effective software designs and implementation plans.
- Develop and maintain secure applications addressing data confidentiality and client privacy requirements.
- Design and implement Identity Management and authentication/authorization solutions.
- Develop and consume REST-based APIs and integrate application components across the technology stack.
- Develop database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, including scripts, stored procedures, queries, triggers, and database-related functionality.
- Develop modern and responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, CSS, and appropriate front-end frameworks.
- Apply responsive UI design principles and contribute to user-interface and user-experience design activities.
- Work with user interface design systems and established UI standards to deliver consistent user experiences.
- Develop and support multilingual software functionality, where applicable.
- Participate actively in an Agile development environment, including Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
- Conduct and participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to established coding standards, security practices, architecture principles, and software-development best practices.
- Use Azure DevOps, including development environments, source control, build/release processes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyze application defects, bugs, and change requests and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
- Implement approved fixes and enhancements across the appropriate layers of the application, including UI, application, API, and database components.
- Develop automated unit tests and support QA/testing activities.
- Investigate and implement application performance improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation in accordance with applicable standards.
- Participate in team meetings and scrums to communicate progress, technical issues, risks, dependencies, and proposed solutions.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to other developers and team members.
- Ensure application development activities comply with applicable security, privacy, confidentiality, and Government of New Brunswick standards.
Requirements
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 8+ years of programming and design experience with .NET and MVC.
- 1+ year of programming and design experience with Identity Management solutions.
- 4+ years of experience writing scripts and stored procedures using Microsoft SQL Server.
- 4+ years: Designing and developing secure applications addressing both data confidentiality and client privacy, gained within the last 7 years.
- 4+ years: Working within an Agile development environment, gained within the last 7 years.
- 4+ years: Translating technical requirements from User Stories and solution architecture into application designs and development, gained within the last 7 years.
- 5+ years: Conducting code reviews and applying coding guidelines, standards, and best practices, gained within the last 7 years.
- 5+ years: JavaScript, jQuery, HTML/CSS, and User Interface design, gained within the last 7 years.
- 5+ years: Responsive UI design and front-end frameworks, gained within the last 7 years.
- 1+ year: Working with user interface design systems, gained within the last 5 years.
- 5+ years: Developing REST-based APIs, gained within the last 7 years.
- 2+ years: Working with Azure DevOps, including pipelines and development environments, gained within the last 5 years.
