In this role you will lead electrical building services upgrades for live data centres, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operation during retrofit projects. You’ll work within a consultancy-led team to shape upgrade strategies, manage risks, and deliver technical designs for European data centre sites. - Lead design and delivery of electrical building services upgrades for live data centres (M&E upgrades, capacity enhancements, technology refresh)
- Manage retrofit strategies including system tie-ins, redundancy planning, and risk mitigation during live operations
- Conduct technical due diligence, power and capacity assessments for existing facilities
- Prepare and review technical designs, schematics, reports, and tender documentation
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and contracts, mitigating scope and operational risks
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution
- Mentor junior engineers and support staff within the retrofit workstream
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement for retrofit delivery in complex environments
- Proven expertise in electrical building services for live data centre environments, including LV/MV distribution and UPS systems
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and Microsoft Office, with calculation experience using ETAP, Amtech, or DIALux
- Comprehensive knowledge of IEC, CIBSE, BS, IS, and EN standards
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in building services engineering, with 3 years in data centre projects
- Chartered Engineer status (or actively working towards Chartership)
