The Opportunity

Build the Future with Us

Help shape some of the region’s most complex and transformative transit infrastructure programs. As a Senior Project Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering multidisciplinary capital projects from concept through construction and closeout. Working closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders, you will provide technical leadership, coordinate design and construction activities, and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and successfully within active transit environments.

This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week at a client office.

Your Impact

  • Develop and define project concepts, quality standards, budget parameters, schedule expectations and scope of work, aligning with stakeholder requirements.

  • Prepare scope and construction review sign-off documents and secure stakeholder approvals of scope and construction review design and contract specifications.

  • Manage design progress from preliminary through detailed phases and conduct design review meetings, including constructability and maintainability.

  • Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary design reviews to confirm technical compliance, constructability, maintainability, budget alignment, and schedule performance.

  • Lead alternative analyses, engineering studies, and lifecycle cost assessments to resolve complex design and construction challenges.

  • Oversee preparation of construction contract documents.

  • Supervise technical specification development and provide ongoing engineering support during construction.

  • Manage contract changes, technical compliance reviews, close-out documentation, and as-built coordination to support successful project completion.

  • Prepare Project Summary Sheets and Justification Reports and coordinate budgeting with Capital Programming and Estimating teams.

  • Prepare project administration documents: work plans, change orders, procurement requests, status reports.

  • Provide engineering support throughout construction, including design handover, Notice to Proceed coordination, kick-off/progress/technical meetings, and construction-phase work plan reviews.

  • Support the Construction Management team by providing technical guidance on contract changes, construction issues, claims, as-built documentation, close-out, and handover to Operations.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • University degree in Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).

  • Minimum 7 years of direct experience delivering engineering and construction projects within a transit operating environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading major multidisciplinary capital programs and heavy construction projects.

  • Strong understanding of the Construction Act, contract delivery methodologies, inspection practices, and engineering principles.

  • Direct experience preparing, reviewing, and administering technical scopes of work, specifications, construction documents, and engineering reports.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in a client-facing environment.

  • Confidence in balancing competing priorities, resolving issues proactively, and supporting delivery in active transit or construction environments.
