Senior Project Engineer [SL]

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and overseeing construction project activities throughout the project lifecycle to ensure timely delivery, cost efficiency, and compliance with quality and safety standards. The role involves technical problem-solving, site supervision, design coordination, and collaboration with project teams, consultants, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Management

• Coordinate and oversee construction projects from planning through completion in accordance with project objectives.

• Work closely with the Project Manager to develop project schedules, monitor progress, and implement corrective actions where necessary.

2. Design & Planning

• Review construction drawings and coordinate with architects and engineers to ensure design feasibility and regulatory compliance.

• Assist in feasibility assessments and risk evaluations to identify potential challenges and recommend practical solutions.

• Follow up with consultants on project documentation, Method Statements of Works (MOS), and construction planning requirements.

3. Quality Assurance

• Conduct site inspections to ensure construction works comply with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

• Identify and follow up on non-conformities, material issues, and construction defects.

• Verify that materials and construction methods meet applicable standards and regulatory requirements.

4. Technical & Site Coordination

• Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and relevant authorities to resolve technical and construction issues.

• Monitor daily site activities and coordinate work sequences to support smooth project execution.

• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and site personnel.

5. Safety Compliance

• Work with the safety team to implement site safety procedures and ensure compliance with applicable Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements.

• Conduct site safety checks and follow up on identified hazards and corrective actions.

6. Budget & Cost Monitoring

• Monitor project expenditure and assist with budget forecasts and cost control.

• Review contractor invoices and variation claims against completed works and contractual requirements.

7. Reporting

• Prepare regular progress reports highlighting project achievements, risks, technical issues, and schedule updates.

• Provide project updates to the Project Manager and HOD – Engineering to support decision-making.

8. Other Duties

• Perform other project-related duties as assigned by the HOD – Engineering or Project Management Team.
