The Role:
The Senior Project Engineer – Telecommunications Engineering is a senior, hands-on engineering role responsible for supporting the delivery of telecommunications engineering across major projects.

Working closely with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager, the role combines the preparation and review of engineering deliverables with the day-to-day coordination of engineering activities. The Senior Project Engineer provides technical guidance to junior engineers and designers, maintains a forward view of engineering requirements during project execution, and identifies technical issues, interfaces and delivery risks requiring attention.

The role requires strong telecommunications engineering capability, sound engineering judgement and a practical understanding of project delivery, including the impact of engineering decisions on schedule, cost, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations.




Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare key engineering deliverables across FEED, Basis of Design, Detailed Design, Construction, Testing and Commissioning, and Handover.
  • Maintain a forward view of engineering requirements, progress and delivery risks, keeping the Project Manager and Engineering Manager informed of status and emerging issues.
  • Review and check engineering work for technical accuracy, completeness and compliance with project requirements and applicable standards, and provide technical guidance to Project Engineers, Engineers, Graduate Engineers and Designers.
  • Participate in technical and interdisciplinary design reviews and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering interfaces.
  • Coordinate vendor engineering and provide technical input to procurement, tender evaluations and equipment selection, including management of vendor documentation, interfaces, queries and engineering progress.
  • Lead technical and engineering resources to execute factory and site testing, system integration, commissioning and operational readiness activities, including FAT, SAT, troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues, and provide engineering support during construction and installation.
  • Ensure engineering changes are appropriately assessed, documented and managed in accordance with project change control and Management of Change requirements.
  • Demonstrate leadership in engineering safety, applying safety-in-design principles, ensuring compliance with project and organisational HSE requirements, and actively participating in engineering risk activities.


About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering,Communications Engineering
  • Experience within EPC, EPCM or owner/operator project delivery environments, including remote, brownfield and safety-critical operating environments.
  • Demonstrated hands-on telecommunications engineering experience across multiple stages of the project lifecycle, with a strong understanding of engineering scope, schedule, cost and risk.
