Senior Project Manager
We are looking for an experienced and skilled Senior Project Manager to join our Private Sector Projects department. The successful candidate will play a vital role in overseeing the construction of a high-profile 500-bedroom hotel, ensuring timely delivery and exceptional quality. As a key member of our team, you will manage a dedicated group of professionals, guiding them towards the successful completion of this prestigious leisure complex project reporting into a Programme Project Director.
Key Responsibilities -
- Provide leadership in the creation of skills, well-being and develop a supportive work environment for delivery staff.
- Creating a detailed project strategy, plan and schedule and managing the project delivery within that plan ensuring the maximum outcomes for the client and Bovis.
- Ensure quality is at a consistently high level and proactively identify quality issues, setting up and monitoring systems and outputs to ensure right first-time construction.
- Establish and maintain appropriate communication and record keeping with all project stakeholders.
- Review all costs and controls.
- Build and maintain a qualified and experienced team. Managing the performance and development of the project team through coaching, mentoring and building the required skills and experience to ensure Bovis is recognised as a place people want to work and excels in project delivery.
- Processes and Systems, use and promote Bovis standard tools and systems to deliver a successful outcome
- Risk Management, develop a comprehensive understanding of project risk and through communication and collaboration.

- Accountable for the implementation and compliance with all Bovis safety requirements across staff, contractors and work practices ensuring appropriate records are maintained and required reports are available.
- Recognise and reward safe behaviours and practices.
- Review the EHS plans and regularly review lessons learnt. Review the project sustainability objectives and targets ensuring compliance with Bovis standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Build and maintain external relationships (e.g. clients, contractors/subcontracts) and develop trust and confidence
Credentials
Have a related Chartership such as CIOB.
- Professional Construction Qualifications relevant to the role (BSc or MSc in Project Management or Building / Construction Studies or Engineering).

An in-depth knowledge of the construction process and construction methods.
Knowledge of current construction laws, legislations, and regulations, standards and procedures.
Expert knowledge of the construction industry.
- Understanding of programme duration and sequencing of works of relevant aspects of construction.
Experience
Pre-construction and site establishment experience.
Experience of dealing with clients, contractors and construction activities.
Design, procurement, construction and delivery experience.
Experience in the delivery of medium to large scale commercial projects (£80m + in construction value).
Demonstratable experience of the delivery of major commercial office buildings.

- Lead and manage a team of 15 construction professionals, providing guidance and support throughout the project.
- Oversee the entire construction process, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Develop and implement project plans, timelines, and budgets, working closely with architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with various stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and local authorities, to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor and control project costs, identifying potential cost overruns and implementing cost-saving measures when necessary.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials and equipment, negotiating with suppliers to secure the best deals and maintain project momentum.
- Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings, addressing any issues or challenges promptly and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily logs, meeting minutes, and change orders, ensuring a comprehensive record of the project's progress.
- Collaborate with the design team to resolve any design-related issues or conflicts, ensuring the final product meets the client's expectations.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and achievements.
- A bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with a proven track record in successfully delivering large-scale construction projects.
- Experience in hotel construction is highly desirable, with a deep understanding of the unique requirements and challenges associated with this sector.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse group of professionals.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with stakeholders and the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, or similar platforms.
- A solid understanding of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations, ensuring compliance throughout the project.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify and resolve complex issues promptly.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills.
- A valid driver's license and flexibility to travel to project sites as required.
