Senior Project Manager – Bus/Rail Segment (m/f/d)
Summary
Lead complex, cross-functional rail and bus system integration projects (CCTV, passenger counting, passenger information systems) from contract award to final acceptance, coordinating customers, internal engineering, suppliers, and international subsidiaries. Role centers on project management of hardware/software delivery in the public transport sector.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Planning, leading, and controlling complex rail/bus system integration projects across their full lifecycle, from contract award to final acceptance
- Acting as primary point of contact for customers and key stakeholders, managing expectations, scope, and communication throughout the project
- Coordinating cross-functional teams (hardware engineering, software development, quality, supply chain) and aligning priorities across departments and international entities
- Managing project budgets, timelines, risks, and change requests, escalating proactively where needed
- Ensuring compliance with contractual, technical, and regulatory requirements relevant to the rail/bus industry
- Driving continuous improvement of project management processes, tools, and reporting standards
- Supporting tendering and pre-sales activities with project planning expertise where required
- Providing regular project status reporting to senior management

- Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Several years of experience managing complex technical projects, ideally within rail, bus, transportation, or a related industrial sector
- Strong track record of leading cross-functional and international project teams
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PMI, PRINCE2, or comparable); certification is a plus
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage
- Willingness to travel occasionally, including to international customer and subsidiary sites
