Senior Civil Project Manager – Job Description

Job Summary:

A Senior Civil Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing civil engineering projects from inception to completion. This role includes planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and ensuring projects meet technical, regulatory, and safety standards. The Senior Civil Project Manager leads project teams, liaises with stakeholders, and ensures successful project delivery within scope, time, and budget constraints.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning & Management:

  • Develop project plans, including scope, budget, schedules, and resource allocation.
  • Oversee the entire project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to define project objectives and deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, ensuring smooth execution.


Tender Processing & Management:
  • Drawings and quantification studies for accuracy and approval.
  • Review and approve Bill of Quantities (BOQ), specifications, and rate verification.
  • Prepare Tender Documents based on tender drawings, quantities, BOQ, and specification sheets.
  • Manage the floating of tender documents
  • Quotes comparisons, negotiations, and contract management process.

Technical Oversight:
  • Provide expertise in civil engineering principles and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments, and project evaluations.
  • Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and drawings.

Team Leadership & Coordination:

  • Lead and mentor project teams, including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.
  • Assign tasks and monitor progress to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Foster collaboration between internal teams, consultants, and government agencies.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Monitor expenses, track financial performance, and implement cost-saving measures.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts for stakeholders.

Regulatory & Safety Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Implement and enforce quality control and assurance measures.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with design and safety protocols.

Stakeholder Communication & Reporting:

  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Present project updates, reports, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Address and resolve project challenges and stakeholder concerns.


Requirements

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification (preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in civil engineering and project management.
  • Experience in residential bungalows, commercial buildings, housing, hospitality, and land development projects.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Zoho Projects, etc...).
  • Expertise in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other engineering software (knowledge in ArchiCAD/Bimx software will be an add-on).
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
