Senior Project Manager (Fixed Term)
Summary
Fixed-term (9–12 month) Senior Project Manager leading Manawanui's migration to a new user portal and financial claims system with partner Valo — planning and sequencing business process changes, driving migration readiness, testing, cutover and go-live across multiple workstreams, with strong change management and reporting to the CEO and Executive team.
About the role
Manawanui is New Zealand's largest flexible funding host provider, offering choice and control to people with disabilities, age-related conditions or other home and community support needs. Together with our technology partner, Valo, we're moving to a new system that will replace our current user portal and back-end financial claims management systems, and change how our teams work and how we support the people we serve. This role leads that programme and will be responsible for planning, sequencing and managing the business process and current-system changes needed over the next 9–12 months to get Manawanui ready for migration, leading migration readiness and the move to the new system through testing, cutover and go-live, building and running integrated plans, schedules, budgets and RAID logs so several concurrent workstreams stay coordinated, leading change personally on some initiatives and working with dedicated Change Leads on others, and reporting clearly to the Chief Executive Officer and Executive team on progress, risks and benefits.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, sequence and manage the business process and current-system changes needed before migration, including those that shape how the new system is configured
- Build and run integrated programme plans, schedules, budgets, resourcing plans and RAID logs across several workstreams
- Lead migration readiness, and coordinate internal teams, Valo, vendors and contractors through testing, cutover and go-live
- Identify, track and mitigate risks and issues, escalating promptly where required
- Scope and absorb smaller initiatives into the programme as priorities shift, without losing control of the plan
- Build strong, trusted working relationships across a wide range of people and levels, from frontline teams through to the Executive team
- Lead change yourself on some initiatives, and work with dedicated Change Leads on others, so communications, training and adoption support reach users in the right order
- Keep the impact on users – our staff and the people we support – at the centre of how changes are planned and landed, so new ways of working stick
- Act as a key liaison between the Valo team, business stakeholders and external vendors
- Provide clear, regular reporting on progress, risks, benefits and outcomes directly to the CEO and Executive team
About you
- 5+ years' experience managing technology or system implementations, including at least one delivered end to end through go-live
- A practical understanding of how integrated systems fit together and how system and process changes affect the people who use them
- Experience sequencing business process and system changes ahead of a platform migration
- Hands-on experience leading change and adoption, not just delivery
- A hands-on style – as comfortable in the detail as setting direction
- Able to run several workstreams at once, including working with dedicated Change Leads, and absorb new work without losing control of the plan
- Clear, confident reporting to a CEO and executive team
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with people at every level
- Relevant tertiary qualification in project management, business, technology or a related field, or equivalent experience (preferred)
- A recognised project management certification such as PMP, PRINCE2, MSP or Agile (advantage)
