POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Project Manager is an emerging senior leader responsible for managing full-cycle delivery of utility construction projects, or substantial scopes within large-scale transmission or substation programs.
Senior Project Manager operates with growing autonomy while receiving strategic guidance from senior leadership. They are expected to integrate project controls, commercial discipline, and execution leadership into consistent field outcomes.
Core Responsibilities
Project Execution & Leadership
- Lead project planning, scheduling, subcontractor oversight, and construction execution across assigned scopes.
- Ensure field operations align with design specifications, safety protocols, and productivity benchmarks.
- Adjust logistics, resourcing, or sequencing in response to emerging site conditions or client directives.
- Maintain strong presence across active work fronts and foster execution alignment with field teams.
Project Financial Leadership & Contract Oversight
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, earned value tracking, and billing deliverables.
- Oversee subcontractor performance against contractual scopes and financial controls.
- Support change order development, commercial issue escalation, and contract alignment.
- Contribute to project financial reviews and margin protection strategies with operational leadership.
Quality, Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Implement QA/QC processes in line with project specifications and client requirements.
- Review ITPs, inspection records, and documentation closeout packages.
- Monitor and report on project risks; support proactive mitigation and resolution strategies.
- Coordinate with safety and environmental teams to uphold performance and compliance standards.
Client & External Partner Management
- Act as the primary point of contact for field-level client representatives, inspectors, and regulatory partners.
- Lead internal and external progress meetings, ensuring alignment and issue resolution.
Delivery Team Development & Leadership
- Mentor junior PMs and Project Coordinators to support team development and delivery consistency.
- Contribute to internal lessons-learned reviews and project improvement initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- 7–10 years of field-based project management experience in utility, infrastructure, or heavy civil construction.
- Proven ability to lead complex builds such as transmission corridors, substation installations, or large distribution upgrades.
- Skilled in managing subcontractors, construction schedules, and financial forecasting under field conditions.
- Proficient in SAP, Procore, Primavera P6, and standard project control tools.
- Degree or diploma in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
- PMP, CET, or similar certification preferred.
- Strong communicator with client-facing experience and cross-functional leadership ability.
- Willingness to travel and operate on remote, active job sites on a rotational shift schedule
The range shown is the expected base pay range for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on role requirements, experience, qualifications, work location, applicable project/site requirements, internal equity, and any applicable collective agreement or union requirements.
This range does not include overtime, premiums, per diem / LOA, bonuses, benefits, or other forms of compensation unless specifically stated in the job posting.
