Maverick Engineering is seeking an experienced Project Manager/Principal Civil Engineer to join our Midland, Texas team. This is a senior leadership opportunity for a technically strong, client-focused engineer who is ready to take ownership of complex civil engineering and land development projects while helping shape the growth and continued success of our firm.

The Principal Civil Engineer will lead projects from initial planning and feasibility through design, permitting, bidding, construction, and completion. The position combines technical leadership, project management, client relationships, mentoring, and business development.

What You'll Do

Lead civil engineering and land development projects from concept through construction and closeout.

Serve as the senior technical resource for complex civil engineering assignments.

Lead and oversee the design of commercial, residential, multifamily, municipal, industrial, infrastructure, and other development projects.

Develop and review grading, drainage, paving, roadway, utility, stormwater, and site development plans.

Prepare and review engineering calculations, specifications, reports, studies, cost estimates, and construction documents.

Evaluate site conditions, development constraints, and project requirements to develop practical and cost-effective solutions.

Coordinate with clients, developers, surveyors, geotechnical consultants, architects, contractors, municipalities, utility providers, and regulatory agencies.

Support land development approvals, platting, permitting, and agency coordination.

Lead or oversee drainage studies, hydrologic/hydraulic analyses, stormwater management, and related water resources work.

Support roadway, water, wastewater, drainage, and other public infrastructure projects.

Participate in construction administration, field investigations, site visits, design reviews, and resolution of construction-related issues.

Review contractor submittals, RFIs, change requests, and other technical documentation.

Establish project design criteria, engineering approaches, and quality expectations.

Identify technical and project risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.

Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality, and client expectations.

Review and provide technical direction for the work of engineers and designers.

Mentor and develop engineering staff and promote strong engineering practices.

Participate in client meetings, presentations, proposals, project pursuits, and business development.

Develop and maintain long-term relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Serve as Engineer of Record and seal engineering documents when authorized and appropriate.

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from an accredited institution.

Active Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

5+ years of progressively responsible civil engineering experience.

Demonstrated experience leading complex civil engineering or land development projects.

Strong technical background in site development, grading and drainage, paving, utilities, stormwater management, and civil infrastructure.

Experience managing projects from planning and design through permitting and construction.

Strong knowledge of applicable Texas, municipal, state, and federal engineering standards and permitting requirements.

Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex engineering and project challenges.

Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating multidisciplinary consultants.

Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D or comparable civil engineering software.

Strong understanding of engineering quality assurance and quality control practices.

Preferred Experience

The following experience is highly desirable:

Civil engineering and land development experience in West Texas.

Commercial, residential, multifamily, industrial, energy, or large-scale site development.

Municipal and public works projects.

Roadway, drainage, water, and wastewater infrastructure.

FEMA floodplain and water resources projects.

Hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and drainage studies.

TxDOT and local agency coordination.

Platting, zoning, entitlements, and development permitting.

Construction administration and field engineering.

Experience serving as Engineer of Record.

Additional state PE registrations.

Project management, estimating, scheduling, and financial management.

Client development and business development experience.

Active participation in ASCE or other professional engineering organizations.
