Summary

The Senior Project Manager will help construct and lead a team, as well as be the key contact for our clients on all work within his/her portfolio. The Senior Project Manager has extensive experience leading complex commercial construction projects, with demonstrated success delivering mission-critical, hyperscale data center, industrial, or other technically complex facilities.

The Senior Project Manager will lead and act as a mentor to their Project Team to empower employees to succeed in their role. This position requires balancing technical, financial, operational, and client priorities while maintaining exceptional project execution in fast-paced, high-growth environments.

Essential Functions

Preconstruction/Estimating/Sales

  • Maintain and enhance Contractor relationships to build new Berg business and be involved in new market development.
  • Full review of the contract with the Project Manager before submitting it to the Senior Leadership Team for sign-off.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings to understand complete scope while ensuring safety, quality and productions set up to be met.
  • Review scope of work and identify any potential risks or scope gaps from estimate to award.
  • Maintains strong knowledge of projects and exceeds set standards for their portfolio.
  • Lead preconstruction planning efforts including procurement strategy, subcontractor evaluation, vendor selection, constructability reviews, and long-lead material planning.

Production/Execution

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams across design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, field leadership, and project stakeholders to ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Give advice and direction as needed to their Project Team.
  • Projection of manpower needs to leverage resources, utilizing the information for additional/future projects.
  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex commercial and mission-critical construction projects, ensuring coordination across preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.
  • Develop and manage integrated project schedules while monitoring project performance against key milestones and implementing recovery plans when necessary.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design, engineering, procurement, operations, commissioning partners, general contractors, owners, equipment vendors, consultants, and utility providers.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, with particular focus on critical-path activities, schedule impacts, procurement challenges, and long-lead equipment.
  • Lead project reviews, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve future project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain integrated master schedules encompassing design, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover, and operational readiness while proactively managing schedule risks and recovery planning.

Financial Management

  • Involved in strategic planning to ensure project profitability- communication with the CFO & Executive Team to discuss financial implications, needs, and manage the cash flow to be positioned for success.
  • Review WIP and billing.
  • Own project budgets, cost forecasting, financial reporting, cash flow management, contingency planning, change control, and project financial closeout throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Participates in the development and execution of Berg’s strategic and business plan including achievement of key objectives.
  • Establish and develop relationships with employees, executive leadership, clients, contractors, consultants, commissioning partners, equipment vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Support and continuous improvement of Berg’s high-performance culture.
  • Provide visionary leadership for new ideas and approaches and humbly welcomes ideas to innovate and better Berg from all levels of the organization.
  • Drive executive-level reporting, project governance, stakeholder communication, and strategic decision-making throughout all phases of project execution.

  • Participate in and support recruitment, hiring, onboarding efforts as appropriate to develop an exceptional regional team.
