Senior Project Manager - New Nuclear (Electrical)

Open 67d

Future Opportunity Posting: We are proactively building a pool of qualified candidates for anticipated hiring needs. There is no immediate opening at this time, but candidates who align with our needs may be contacted as opportunities arise.

📃 About Your Lead

Hi 👋, I’m Steve, co-founder and Director of New Nuclear at NPX – your future lead! I’ve built my career delivering complex nuclear projects - 15+ years in field work at Bruce Power to leading multi-disciplinary teams through major refurbishment campaigns.

I’m a mentor, a teacher, and (full disclosure) a champion of dad jokes. I believe culture is built on smiles and being there for each other — and that’s exactly the kind of team we’ve grown at NPX. If that sounds like your kind of place, I’d love to meet you. Let’s build something great together. 🚀

🌎 About Us

NPX partners with nuclear utilities and new reactor projects to unlock performance through innovation. We combine decades of nuclear operation expertise with AI, digital tools and lean processes to help plants run safer, smarter, and more cost-effectively. Our New Nuclear team scales this expertise through strategic project management of new nuclear projects, from concept through execution, across Canada, the U.S., and globally.

🧠 The Role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager (Electrical) to lead complex electrical engineering scopes within new nuclear projects. This role is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, integration, and delivery of electrical systems across multidisciplinary reactor projects.

You will manage the full lifecycle of electrical project scopes, from conceptual design through detailed engineering, procurement, construction support, commissioning, and turnover, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to regulatory and safety requirements.

You will coordinate internal electrical engineering teams, cross-functional disciplines (mechanical, I&C, civil, licensing), clients, utilities, and external vendors while proactively managing technical risks and ensuring alignment across stakeholders.

Travel Requirements: Requires on-site presence in Bruce County approximately three days per week to support collaboration, construction interface, and field decision-making.

Salary range: $140-170k (Exact Compensation may vary).

🎯 What You’ll Drive

  • Own and drive electrical design and execution packages, including power distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, protection and control systems, cable management, grounding, and integration with on-site and off-site buildings.

  • Engage engineering teams with construction teams to intelligently plan site demolition and site preparation activities to be ready for a large-scale nuclear new build.

  • Ensure seamless coordination between electrical systems and mechanical, I&C, and civil disciplines, resolving interface risks early and preventing downstream impacts.

  • Support new reactor and first-of-a-kind deployments by introducing innovative electrical design approaches, modularization strategies, and digital engineering tools.

  • Identify and mitigate technical, regulatory, and construction risks specific to nuclear electrical systems while ensuring compliance with CSA, IEEE, NEC/CEC, and nuclear regulatory standards.

  • Manage relationships with utilities, OEMs, EPC partners, and electrical equipment suppliers to ensure technical alignment, procurement readiness, and timely delivery.

  • Provide leadership through installation, testing, energization, and commissioning phases, ensuring electrical systems perform safely and as designed.

✨ What You’ll Bring

  • Deep Electrical Engineering Expertise: Strong background in power systems, nuclear or large industrial electrical design, and system integration within complex infrastructure environments.

  • Proven Project Leadership: Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and managing electrical scopes through full lifecycle delivery in regulated industries.

  • Results & Accountability: You take ownership of scope, schedule, and budget performance, driving teams toward measurable outcomes.

  • Adaptability in Complex Environments: Comfort navigating ambiguity, evolving regulatory requirements, and first-of-a-kind project challenges.

  • Technical Risk Foresight: Ability to anticipate integration, constructability, procurement, and commissioning risks before they impact delivery.

  • Cultural Leadership: You model accountability, collaboration, mentorship, and innovation, strengthening team culture while delivering technical excellence.

  • Stakeholder Management: You are able to interface with a wide range of stakeholders inside nuclear and beyond to municipalities, other corporations, and government bodies.

🌿 What You’ll Find Here

To do great work, you need to be well in mind, body, and soul. At NPX, we design our environment around the whole person, not just the job they do.

  • 🧠 Mind: Tools and support for mental wellness, professional growth, and financial security.

  • 🧘‍♀️ Body: Health coverage, a spending account, and the freedom to rest and recharge.

  • 🌀 Soul: Meaningful work, alignment with your values, and time to refresh with time off.

  • 💰👀 Financial wellbeing? Covered. That means competitive pay and recognition for the impact you make.
