At Sure Steel, Inc., we are more than just a construction company – we are builders of success, integrity, and innovation. We have established ourselves as a trusted leader in the steel fabrication and construction industry. Our commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction has earned us a reputation for delivering top-quality projects on time and within budget. Our team is dedicated to delivering innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of each project, ensuring safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction.

Overview:
The Senior Project Manager will own the full lifecycle of complex construction projects, with Mass Timber experience strongly preferred. This role carries elevated accountability for project P&L, cross-functional leadership, and mentorship of junior project management staff, in addition to the core planning, execution, and delivery responsibilities. We're looking for a strategic leader who can manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously, navigate complex stakeholder relationships, and drive continuous improvement across the project delivery function.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Project Planning and Portfolio Oversight

  • Own the development and continuous refinement of comprehensive project plans, master schedules, and budgets across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and profitability targets.
  • Direct procurement strategy in partnership with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers, negotiating terms and resolving supply chain risks that could impact multiple project timelines.
  • Provide senior-level review and sign-off on project specifications, drawings, and contract documents, identifying contractual risk and ensuring alignment with both project requirements and company standards.
  • Lead pre-construction planning efforts, including constructability reviews and value engineering, to optimize project outcomes before ground is broken.

2. Construction Execution, Oversight, and Team Leadership

  • Direct and oversee all construction activities across one or more project sites, providing leadership and mentorship to project managers, superintendents, and field staff.
  • Own full accountability for project financial performance, monitoring progress against schedules and budgets, forecasting variances, and driving corrective action at both the project and portfolio level.
  • Conduct high-level site visits and inspections, using findings to coach site teams and refine standard operating procedures across projects.
  • Serve as an escalation point for on-site challenges that exceed the authority of project-level staff.

3. Quality Assurance, Standards, and Continuous Improvement

  • Set and continuously refine company-wide quality control standards and procedures, ensuring consistency across project teams and driving a culture of accountability.
  • Lead root-cause analysis of recurring quality issues and drive systemic corrective actions that improve outcomes across the broader project portfolio, not just individual sites.
  • Mentor project teams on quality control best practices and build institutional knowledge that scales beyond any single project.

4. Executive Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management

  • Act as the senior point of contact and trusted advisor for high-value clients, owners, architects, engineers, and executive-level stakeholders.
  • Lead strategic communication on project status, risk, and financial performance to senior leadership and clients, translating technical detail into business impact.
  • Own and facilitate high-stakes project meetings, owner/architect/contractor (OAC) meetings, and executive briefings, driving alignment and decision-making among diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships that support repeat business and organizational reputation.

5. Risk Management, Issue Resolution, and Organizational Impact

  • Proactively identify enterprise-level risks across the project portfolio and develop comprehensive mitigation and contingency strategies.
  • Lead resolution of complex, high-stakes disputes, claims, and conflicts, exercising sound judgment and negotiation skill to protect company interests and project outcomes.
  • Drive lessons-learned processes and embed process improvements into company standards, elevating risk management maturity across the organization.
  • Mentor and develop junior project managers in risk identification and issue resolution, building bench strength for the organization.
