What You'll Be Doing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, or a related field and five (5) years progressively responsible experience in civil engineering work or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) to three (3) years of supervisory and/or management experience.
- Current Virginia PE License (or ability to obtain in one year).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, or a related field.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Valid Virginia Stormwater Combined Administrator Certification (or ability to obtain in one year).
- Valid FEMA Certified Floodplain Administrator Certification (or ability to obtain in one year).

This position is responsible for first-line supervision of staff working on a team in the Town’s Department of Community Development – Engineering Division, as well as complex professional work on a variety of engineering, analytical, and research duties related to land development applications. The primary focus of the Senior Project Manager and their team is timely review of plans, plats, and other applications for adherence to engineering design and construction standards.
This position will also support the Deputy Director – Engineering, various Town departments, outside review agencies, architects, engineers, and the general public on the Town’s overall land development and subdivision process.
