Senior Project Manager

The Opportunity

Do you have strong project management experience within the roads, tunnels or broader construction industry?

We are introducing a new position for an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Transurban portfolio. In this role, you will lead the successful delivery of key and complex high tempo projects, while identifying and developing strategic opportunities across the project delivery and additional services portfolio.

Beyond project delivery, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening the team's overall capability by establishing and embedding effective frameworks, processes and support mechanisms. Your focus will be on driving best practice outcomes, improving delivery consistency and performance, and identifying opportunities to enhance service offerings and support sustainable revenue growth.

Additional Requirement

Flexibility is required to undertake occasional night works to support operational requirements and project delivery.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex, strategic and critical maintenance projects across the Transurban roads and tunnels network.
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth, service expansion and improved project delivery outcomes.
• Oversee project priorities, resource allocation, performance and delivery outcomes across the Project Delivery Team.
• Establish and continuously improve project frameworks, processes, systems, reporting and controls to ensure consistency, commercial performance, governance, assurance and contractual compliance.
• Support Project Leads in managing project performance, scope variations, cost recovery, delivery risks and escalations, providing technical and operational guidance as required.
• Lead team capability, coaching, mentoring and succession planning, fostering accountability, collaboration and a consistent one-team approach.
• Build strong client relationships, aligning delivery priorities with client expectations and broader business objectives.
• Champion effective workforce planning, resource utilisation and a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with Ventia SHEQ standards, policies and legislative requirements.

About You

• Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, Business Management or a related discipline. Relevant trade qualifications and industry experience will also be considered.
• General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
• Extensive experience in road and tunnel rehabilitation, construction, maintenance or infrastructure management, with a strong understanding of civil and multidisciplinary works.
• Proven experience managing and delivering complex construction, asset upgrade and maintenance projects, particularly within high-tempo environments.
• Strong technical and commercial knowledge, including first-principles estimating, whole-of-life asset management, subcontractor management and project cost control.
• Experience delivering works under AS 2124 contracts, with a sound understanding of contractual obligations, project controls and compliance requirements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical standards and specifications.
• Demonstrated leadership in safety across large-scale infrastructure, construction and maintenance projects.
• Strong program management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing demands and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes and budgets.
• Highly developed reporting and communication skills, including the ability to present project performance, risks and outcomes to senior management and key stakeholders.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal stakeholders, working collaboratively to achieve contract and business objectives.
• Demonstrated leadership capability, with a focus on developing team capability, fostering accountability and promoting a positive, collaborative team culture.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Microsoft Project (above intermediate level).
• Experience using Maximo or similar asset management systems will be highly regarded, with Maximo being the primary system used within the contract.
• Exposure to Power BI and data reporting tools will be advantageous.
