Senior Public Relations Manager

This is a high-impact communications leadership role responsible for shaping how a global technology and cybersecurity brand engages with the media and broader security community. You will lead proactive media relations, product launch communications, executive visibility, and issues preparedness across a fast-moving B2B technology environment. Working closely with senior leadership, product, security, legal, and marketing teams, you will turn complex technical developments into compelling stories. You will also manage an external PR agency and establish measurable communications programs that demonstrate business impact. The role offers significant ownership, visibility, and the opportunity to influence corporate reputation and category positioning. It is ideal for an experienced communications professional who combines strategic thinking, strong storytelling, and disciplined execution.
Accountabilities:
- Lead proactive media relations across security, business, and technology outlets, building strong journalist relationships and generating meaningful earned coverage around company milestones, research, and announcements.
- Manage and guide an external PR agency, setting priorities, defining scope, maintaining high standards, and measuring performance against clear outcomes.
- Develop and execute communications strategies for product launches, industry events, original research, and other high-profile company moments.
- Own and continuously refine the corporate messaging framework, ensuring consistent positioning across media, executives, marketing channels, and external communications.
- Build executive visibility through strategic speaking opportunities, bylines, interviews, and other targeted media engagements.
- Partner closely with security, legal, and senior leadership to maintain crisis and issues preparedness, including communications protocols, response plans, and holding statements.
- Establish and track communications performance metrics such as share of voice, message pull-through, media quality, and sentiment, using data to demonstrate impact and inform strategy.
- Collaborate with brand, product marketing, demand generation, and other marketing functions to ensure earned, owned, and paid communications reinforce a cohesive narrative.
- Act as a trusted communications advisor to senior leaders, providing clear counsel and maintaining composure and sound judgment in high-stakes situations.
- Support broader positioning initiatives, including company repositioning, category creation, and communications within emerging areas such as identity, access management, and AI governance.
- Proven experience leading public relations or corporate communications programs within B2B software, technology, cybersecurity, or another technically complex industry.
- Demonstrated success securing meaningful earned media coverage through compelling storytelling and established relationships with relevant journalists and industry publications.
- Experience managing an external PR agency and holding agency partners accountable to measurable objectives and high-quality deliverables.
- Background in crisis and issues communications, preferably within a security-sensitive, regulated, or technically complex environment.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to independently develop polished, executive-ready communications and compelling media materials.
- Strong understanding of media strategy, executive communications, product launches, corporate messaging, and reputation management.
- Ability to translate complex technical or business concepts into clear, engaging narratives for varied audiences.
- Strong strategic thinking, organizational skills, and operational rigor, with a demonstrated ability to use data and measurable outcomes to evaluate communications effectiveness.
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate effectively across marketing, product, security, legal, and leadership teams.
- Calm, confident, and pragmatic under pressure, with strong judgment and the ability to provide trusted counsel when stakes are high.
- Experience with company repositioning, category creation, creator or influencer programs, or technical community engagement is a plus.
- Familiarity with identity and access management, cybersecurity, AI governance, or adjacent technology markets is advantageous.
- Competitive compensation: U.S. base salary range of $131,200–$160,000 USD, with compensation determined by factors including geographic market, knowledge, skills, and experience.
