Senior Python & AI Backend Developer (Freelance) – Hybrid Milan

Shakers is seeking a Senior Python backend developer for a freelance project in the Milan area. The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week on-site in Segrate, and a remote-friendly setup for the rest.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and own backend deliverables end-to-end. The core stack includes Python and FastAPI, LlamaIndex and Gemini for retrieval-augmented generation, and PostgreSQL (pgvector + full-text search) with Redis for caching and data access patterns.

Backend services in Python + FastAPI. LlamaIndex and Gemini for retrieval-augmented generation. PostgreSQL (pgvector + full-text search) and Redis as the data layer. 3+ years backend development experience with Python and FastAPI. Hands-on experience with LlamaIndex and Gemini. Experience with PostgreSQL (pgvector + full-text search) and Redis. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, or related field.
