Senior Python Data Engineer - Banking - Paris (Hybrid)

Senior Python Data Engineer on a 6-month contract (via emagine) embedded in a leading bank in Paris, hybrid 3 days/week onsite. Day to day: design and optimise Python data processing for VAT recovery, regulatory reporting and AI initiatives using large SQL databases (PostgreSQL/MySQL/SQL Server), MongoDB, Linux/Bash and Autosys scheduling.

emagine has an opportunity for you to drive data-driven solutions for VAT recovery, regulatory reporting and AI initiatives with a global team, in a leading banking environment in Paris.
Skills & Experience
12+ years of Python development, with strong OOP and software design principles
Hands-on data engineering with very large datasets (hundreds of millions of records)
Strong SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL or SQL Server) plus practical MongoDB experience, covering querying, data modelling and performance tuning
Linux and Bash, with Autosys or similar job scheduling tools
GIT (branching, pull requests), Agile delivery and JIRA
TDD and BDD (Behave), with unit testing in PyTest
Previous banking or financial services experience
Fluent English
Nice to have: other database technologies, data visualisation tools, machine learning or AI frameworks
Tasks & Deliverables
Design, build and optimise scalable, maintainable Python applications and data processing solutions
Handle schema design, query optimisation and data integrity on very large SQL databases
Develop and tune MongoDB and NoSQL data solutions
Integrate, transform and analyse complex datasets to improve reporting, analytics and downstream applications
Deploy and automate applications and data workflows in Linux, and build Autosys scheduling workflows
Troubleshoot data discrepancies, performance bottlenecks and production issues
Mentor junior team members and promote engineering best practice
Work with stakeholders to turn business and regulatory data needs into solutions
