About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Developer with extensive experience in Django to design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications end-to-end using the Django backend and data layer, and the Django-rendered frontend (templates, forms, and UI logic). The ideal candidate is passionate about writing clean, efficient code, building secure and high-performing applications, and mentoring other developers. You will play a key role in designing software architecture, developing new features, and improving the overall performance and reliability of the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications using Python and Django across both backend services and Django-rendered frontend views/templates.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
• Build and maintain frontend UI using Django templates, forms, and static assets, ensuring a polished user experience.
• Build reusable, maintainable, and well-documented code following industry best practices.
• Design and optimize relational databases and write efficient database queries.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality features spanning both frontend and backend.
• Review code, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior developers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
• Write and maintain automated tests.
• Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years of professional Python development experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing applications with Django.
• Strong understanding of the Django framework, including:

• Experience building frontend interfaces with Django templating, HTML/CSS/JS, and integrating them with backend logic (experience with HTMX or Alpine.js is a plus).
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Experience with Git and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience with Docker and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
