Senior Python Developer

Summary

Senior Python developer building and scaling backend services, APIs, and serverless AWS applications while mentoring engineers and improving team processes.

Why This Role Matters Right Now

Neostella is scaling rapidly, and as our platform grows in complexity, the need for strong technical leadership and high-quality backend development becomes increasingly critical. Our ability to deliver reliable, scalable, and well-integrated systems depends on experienced engineers who can both execute at a high level and elevate the performance of the broader team. This role exists because we need senior‑level ownership across our backend architecture and development processes.

What You’ll Manage

We’re looking for a Senior Python Developer who will lead the design, development, and delivery of backend services while mentoring other engineers and driving technical best practices. You will take ownership of complex features from concept through release, ensuring code quality, scalability, and alignment with architectural standards. This includes designing APIs, building integrations, and leveraging AWS services to support robust, serverless applications. In addition to hands‑on development, you’ll play a critical role in team enablement—conducting code reviews, resolving technical challenges, and improving development processes. You’ll collaborate closely with Technical Leads, product teams, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.

What You Bring

We’re looking for a developer who combines strong technical expertise with leadership and ownership. You are confident working across backend systems, APIs, and cloud environments, and you take pride in writing clean, scalable, and maintainable code.

You’re someone who doesn’t just execute—you think critically about architecture, identify opportunities for improvement, and proactively solve problems before they escalat. You enjoy mentoring others, contributing to team growth, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

You thrive in fast‑paced environments, communicate clearly, and are comfortable balancing hands‑on development with technical leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development of high‑quality, scalable features while mentoring junior and mid‑level developers
  • Ensure adherence to SDLC standards, coding best practices, and architectural guidelines
  • Participate in solution design and technical planning to support scalable system architecture
  • Own code quality through rigorous testing, integration validation, and comprehensive code reviews
  • Serve as a technical escalation point, resolving complex issues and unblocking the team
  • Maintain clear, proactive communication on progress, risks, and timelines via stand‑ups, Jira, and Slack
  • Take full ownership of assigned features, delivering release‑ready work on time
  • Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Python and AWS
  • Contribute to and improve technical documentation, ensuring maintainability and onboarding support
  • Drive continuous improvement across processes, system design, and development practices

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in software development.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience building APIs and backend services.
  • Experience with REST API integrations; familiarity with SOAP is a plus.
  • Understanding of object‑oriented programming principles.
  • Exposure to or interest in serverless architecture and frameworks (e.g., Serverless Framework).
  • Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, and SQS.
  • Basic understanding of agile methodologies (Scrum experience is a plus).
  • Strong time management and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Comfortable receiving feedback and open to continuous growth.

Technical Environment

  • Languages & Frameworks: Python, Serverless Framework
  • Cloud: AWS (Lambda, Step Functions, API Gateway, SQS, etc.)
  • Dev Tools: GitHub, Jira
  • Monitoring/Logging: Coralogix
  • APIs: REST, SOAP
