About The Role

We are seeking experienced Senior Python Engineers to join various teams within our technology division. These roles offer an exciting opportunity to work on a broad spectrum of projects, including systematic trading systems, quantitative research platforms, large-scale data processing infrastructures, and artificial intelligence applications. As a senior member of the engineering team, you will collaborate with highly skilled professionals, gaining exposure to cutting-edge technologies that drive critical areas of Man Group's business operations.

This role involves designing and maintaining scalable backend systems, developing high-performance data pipelines, and implementing monitoring tools to ensure system reliability. You will play a key part in translating complex business and research requirements into robust technical solutions, contributing to the continuous improvement of our technology ecosystem. The position also offers the opportunity to leverage AI development tools to accelerate project delivery and foster innovation within the team.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five years of professional software development experience, preferably with a strong background in Python or other object-oriented programming languages. A solid academic record in fields such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related disciplines is essential. Experience in developing mission-critical production systems, with best practices in testing, deployment, and monitoring, is highly valued.

Proficiency with Linux operating systems, version control systems like Git, and relevant database technologies such as MS SQL, Postgres, or MongoDB is required. Candidates should have demonstrated experience working with large structured and unstructured datasets and the ability to independently gather requirements from stakeholders. A keen interest in AI-assisted development tools and modern data engineering practices will be advantageous. Knowledge of distributed systems, orchestration, and contributions to open-source projects are considered a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs that underpin quantitative research and trading infrastructure.
• Create distributed compute applications, optimize system performance, and implement monitoring and observability tools to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Build and manage high-performance data pipelines capable of processing large-scale financial datasets using technologies like timeseries databases, SQL, and NoSQL solutions.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and platform teams to translate complex requirements into effective technical solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing systems.
• Participate in production support rotations, assist in architecture decisions, conduct code reviews, and promote engineering best practices across teams.
• Leverage AI development tools to enhance project delivery speed and foster adoption of innovative solutions within the organization.
