🚀 About the project

We are looking for an experienced Senior Python Engineer / Tech Lead to join a project for a US-based healthcare technology company.

The project involves the ongoing development and modernization of a mature, multi-tenant SaaS platform used by healthcare facilities. The system includes a web application, mobile applications, and integrations with hospital systems.

You will join the team during the transition of development responsibilities and work closely with the client's product and engineering stakeholders.

We are looking for someone with strong Python and Django expertise, experience working with complex production systems, and the ability to independently deliver solutions, make technical decisions, and communicate directly with the client.

The role is primarily backend-focused, with occasional involvement in frontend development when needed.

🧠 Your responsibilities

• develop, maintain, and improve a complex SaaS platform using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework

• focus primarily on backend development, with occasional support for frontend tasks when needed

• participate in knowledge transfer and help establish effective development practices

• contribute to technical decisions and improvements within the existing architecture

• provide technical guidance and support engineering decisions within the team

• collaborate directly with US-based product and engineering stakeholders

• analyze requirements, provide estimates, and support release planning

• maintain and improve existing code while delivering new features

• design and develop REST APIs and integrations with external systems

• optimize database queries, application performance, and background processing

• ensure code quality through automated testing, code reviews, CI/CD, and documentation

• coordinate with mobile developers on backend changes and API integrations

• proactively identify technical risks and propose improvements

🧩 Must haves

• minimum 10 years of commercial experience in software development

• strong commercial experience with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF)

• experience developing and maintaining large, production-grade applications

• strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, including query optimization, indexing, and database migrations

• experience designing and developing REST APIs

• Strong hands-on experience with AI-assisted software development, using tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot directly in daily coding workflows

• Practical experience with agentic AI coding workflows, including working with codebase context, multi-file changes, debugging, refactoring, and automated test generation

• Ability to use AI coding agents effectively while independently reviewing, validating, and taking responsibility for generated code

• experience with Redis or similar caching technologies

• experience with Celery or other background task processing solutions

• experience with automated testing using pytest or similar frameworks

• practical experience with Docker and CI/CD pipelines

• ability to work effectively with complex legacy codebases, including refactoring and modernization

• strong understanding of software architecture, maintainability, and performance optimization

• ability to independently analyze requirements, propose solutions, and deliver features

• ability to contribute to technical decisions and provide guidance to other engineers

• willingness to work on frontend tasks using Angular when needed

• excellent communication skills and experience working directly with international clients

• English at C1 level or higher

• availability for afternoon meetings (CET/CEST) with the US-based team

• hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript, and RxJS

• commercial experience in frontend development

• experience leading or coordinating a small development team

• experience working on healthcare platforms or regulated systems, including HIPAA-related requirements

• knowledge of HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare system integration standards

• experience with multi-tenant SaaS architectures

• knowledge of Keycloak, OIDC, SAML, or SSO integrations

• experience with AngularJS (1.x) and migration to modern Angular

• familiarity with iOS or Android development
