FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Senior QA Engineer with strong hands-on functional testing experience and the ability to analyse requirements, identify risks and estimate QA effort.

Your mission will be to ensure functional quality throughout the software development lifecycle, from early project definition to final validation. Beyond executing tests, you will anticipate issues, constructively challenge requirements and propose risk-based validation strategies.

You will collaborate closely with Product, Development and QA teams across web and mobile applications and REST APIs.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT ASESSMENT

· Assess project proposals and new features from a quality perspective.

· Identify affected systems, applications, integrations, data flows and business processes.

· Evaluate functional complexity, risks, dependencies and impact on existing functionality.

· Estimate QA effort for environment and test-data preparation, test design and execution, defect retesting and regression.

· Document assumptions, uncertainties and dependencies; communicate key risks and validation needs.

FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS AND REQUIREMENTS

· Review user stories and acceptance criteria to identify ambiguities, inconsistencies and missing scenarios.

· Work with Product Owners, Developers and Tech Leads to clarify requirements before implementation.

· Identify positive, negative, boundary, permission, state-transition and error scenarios.

· Help define clear, testable acceptance criteria and contribute to refinement and Definition of Ready practices.

TEST DESIGN AND EXECUTION

· Design test cases and scenarios using BDD and Gherkin where appropriate.

· Perform functional, exploratory, integration and regression testing on web and mobile applications.

· Validate REST APIs with Postman and verify data integrity and consistency using SQL.

· Maintain test cases, data, evidence and execution results; log and track defects in Jira.

· Retest fixes and assess the need for regression testing.

QA ESTIMATION AND PLANNING

· Estimate testing effort based on scope, complexity and project risks.

· Break estimates down by activity, distinguishing hands-on QA effort from waiting time and external dependencies.

· Make uncertainties explicit and provide estimate ranges when information is incomplete.

· Revise estimates when scope or delivery conditions change and compare estimates with actual effort.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

· Promote Shift-Left Testing and early quality involvement.

· Improve QA strategies, processes, templates, standards and application testability.

· Share good practices and foster a shared culture of quality.

TECHNOLOGY STACK

Backend and data

· PHP / Laravel; MySQL; SQL

Testing practices

· BDD; Gherkin; REST API validation; web and mobile functional testing; exploratory and regression testing.

Tools and CI/CD

· Postman; Jira; Confluence; Git; Bitbucket; Docker (user level); Bitbucket Pipelines (understanding of continuous integration workflows).

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

· More than 5 years of experience as a QA Engineer, Software Tester or in an equivalent role.

· Strong hands-on experience with manual functional, exploratory, integration and regression testing.

· Experience with BDD, Gherkin, requirements analysis, user stories and acceptance criteria.

· Ability to identify risks, dependencies and functional gaps, and estimate QA effort with clear assumptions.

· Experience validating REST APIs with Postman or similar tools and strong SQL skills.

· Experience with Jira, collaborative documentation tools (such as Confluence) and Git; familiarity with CI/CD.

· Experience in Agile/Scrum environments and written and spoken communication skills in Spanish and English.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

· Test automation with Cypress, Playwright or Pytest.

· Python or JavaScript for writing or interpreting small scripts.

· Testing native mobile applications.

· Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

· Docker and containerised testing environments.

· Distributed architectures, microservices and integrations.

· Applying artificial intelligence to testing and quality assurance.
