Senior QE Engineer - Functional Testing – Job Description

Experience: 6 – 9 years

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and execute functional test plans and test cases based on project/release scope and requirements.
  
• Define test scenarios and test cases for SIT, UAT, and Regression test levels.
  
• Perform reconciliation testing across SQL databases, Databricks, Finance accounting Hub, Eclipse and claims systems ensuring accuracy of financial and operational data.
  
• Execute claims testing and automation using Virtuoso platform, ensuring seamless integration and regression coverage.
  
• Create test strategies, define test coverage, and establish scope for testing activities.
  
• Maintain test evidences, backups, and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  
• Identify, log, and track software defects using Azure DevOps (ADO) / Jira, driving triage and resolution with cross-functional teams.
  
• Collaborate with Ops, Finance, Technical Analysts, and Data teams to resolve issues and validate end-to-end workflows.
  
• Participate in requirement reviews and provide QA perspective to improve testability and coverage.
  
• Identify improvement opportunities and contribute to continuously enhance testing processes and methodologies.
  
• Create and publish test status reports, closure reports, and test metrics to stakeholders.
  
• Evaluate entry & exit criteria for test levels, including management of Quality Gates.
  
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for defects and recommend preventive measures.
  
• Execute/Review automation coverage and results in collaboration with automation teams for effective utilization.
  

Must-Have Skills

• Strong experience in functional testing of cloud-based applications, SaaS products, and enterprise systems.
  
• Hands-on expertise in SQL and Databricks for database testing, reconciliation, and validation.
  
• Experience in End-to-End Testing, Systems Integration Testing, and Claims Testing.
  
• Strong knowledge of test management & defect management using Azure DevOps.
  
• Good understanding of SDLC, STLC, and QA methodologies.
  
• Ability to define test strategies, coverage, and scope with risk-based prioritization.
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with proactive approach.
  
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams.
  
• Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery models.
  
• ISTQB certified.
  

Good-to-Have Skills

• Experience in Insurance domain.
  
• Understanding of Non-Functional Requirements and collaboration with performance/security teams.
  
• Basic knowledge of automation testing tools like Virtuoso.
