Senior R&D Scientist

Job Description

1. Designs optical systems with specific characteristics to fit within specified physical limits of precision optical instruments, such as cameras, imaging systems, projection systems, telescopes, and viewing and display devices : Determines specifications for operations and makes adjustments to calibrate and obtain specified operational performance.
2. Resolve optical / illumination issues. Identify necessary and desirable improvements of vision optical system performance
3. Designs mounts for components to hold them in proper planes in relation to each other and instrument in which they will be used.
4. Designs inspection instruments to test optical systems for defects, such as aberrations and deviations.
5. May work with electrical and mechanical engineering staff to develop overall design of optical system.
6. Handle technical discussion with customer for project development and NPI.
7. Knowledge on optical coatings a bonus. Design and formulate optical coatings with an eye toward enhancing optical properties to meet application requirements.
8. Knowledge on design of diffractive optics elements (DOE) / Use of LightTrans VirtualLab software would be a bonus.

Requirements :

• Degree or Master’s or PhD Degree in any Physic Optics / Nano Engineering
• Discipline with minimum 2 years’ experience in optics design & optical systems
• Strong knowledge in Optical and related mechanical design
• Must have good hands on different types optical methodologies for optics performance testing
• Good experience in Optics design software such as Zemax, TracePro, VirtualLab
• Knowledge in Chromatic Aberrations, MTF, Precision measurement
• Experience in lighting / illumination system and simulation is an added advantage
• Proficient in English both Written and Verbal Communication
• Highly independent, self motivating & driven
• Good communication skills
