About the Role and Team
You'll join a small, high-performing engineering team delivering mobile solutions for our clients, currently focused on building world-class audio and media experiences used by millions of Australians. This is a hands-on senior role with real ownership: you'll shape architecture decisions, set the bar for code quality, and work directly with product managers, designers, QA, and client stakeholders to take features from concept to release.
This is a fully remote role based in India. You'll work closely with our Australian-based client teams, so some overlap with AEST business hours is expected.
A Day in the Life
As a Senior React Native Engineer (Android), you'll lead the design and development of scalable, high-performance mobile solutions, mentoring engineers and driving best practices across the team. You'll own complex features end-to-end, optimize for performance and reliability, and keep a close eye on emerging technologies to help guide strategic decisions for the platforms you work on. You'll also play a key role in bridging technical and client-facing conversations, translating complexity into clarity.
What You'll Need
- Extensive commercial experience building iOS and Android apps with React Native
- Strong hands-on experience in native Android development (Kotlin/Java)
- Advanced understanding of mobile app architectures, performance optimization, and usability principles
- Proven experience with native modules and complex third-party integrations
- Demonstrated expertise in audio/media applications, streaming technologies, or entertainment platforms
- Experience with Expo framework and modern React Native development tooling
- Knowledge of HLS streaming, Chromecast, or CarPlay/Android Auto integration is a strong plus
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders
