Senior Reporting Analyst Job Description

Role Overview

The Senior Reporting Analyst role will focus on analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing data to deliver actionable insights for business decision-making. This role emphasizes data exploration, data reconciliation, reporting, data analytics, and business intelligence. The ideal candidate will leverage Databricks and SQL to prepare datasets, build data models, create and validate dashboards, perform advanced data analytics, and collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure data-driven dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

Data Analytics & Reporting

• Perform data extraction, transformation, analysis and analytics using Python/PySpark, and SQL.
• Utilize advanced Excel functionalities to manipulate and analyze large datasets, create reports, and generate actionable insights.
• Develop and validate dashboards and reports to present actionable insights to business teams.
• Perform ad-hoc analysis to support business decisions, identify opportunities for process improvement, and optimize operational performance.
• Conduct thorough data validation and reconciliation to ensure consistency and reliability of reporting metrics
• Proactively identify data discrepancies, anomalies, and trends, and recommend corrective actions as needed
• Validate data accuracy and consistency across multiple sources.

Collaboration

• Work closely with data engineers to ensure availability of clean, curated datasets.
• Work with team leads and business stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven dashboarding solutions
• Support ad-hoc analysis for strategic initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline data processes, enhance data quality, and drive organizational efficiency.
• Provide training and support to end-users on data tools and techniques, empowering them to leverage data effectively

Optimization & Governance

• Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
• Optimize queries for performance and cost efficiency.
• Maintain documentation for datasets, reports, and analytical processes.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6-9 years of experience in data analytics and/or business intelligence.
• Hands-on expertise in:
• Handling high volume data for Data Analytics (Mandatory)
• Excel, and SQL for data querying and analysis (Mandatory)
• BI tools (Power BI, Databrick AIBI, or similar) (Mandatory)
• Python, PySpark, Spark SQL (Good to have)
• Strong visualization and reporting skills with attention to detail.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex ideas and requirements to stakeholders.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to identify problems, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of AWS services (S3, RDS) for data access. (Good to have)
• Experience with large datasets and distributed computing environments. (Must have)
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts for advanced analytics (Good to have)
