Senior Roadway Project Manager

Join our nationally recognized team of civil engineering professionals and take ownership of a diverse and rewarding portfolio of transportation projects. As a Senior Roadway Project Manager, you'll lead multidisciplinary teams through the full lifecycle of highway, roadway, and active transportation projects, from planning and design through construction, while serving as the trusted point of contact for state DOTs, counties, and municipalities. This role places you at the intersection of technical leadership and client partnership, where your ability to drive project delivery, manage budgets and schedules, and build lasting relationships is as important as your engineering expertise. You'll also play a meaningful role in mentoring the next generation of engineers and contributing to the growth of our transportation practice, with clear opportunity to advance within the firm.
What You’ll Do
- Manage the planning, design, and delivery of transportation infrastructure projects for public agency clients including state DOTs, counties, and municipalities
- Oversee design execution while monitoring key performance indications including project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to contract requirements
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams across internal disciplines and subconsultants to achieve integrated, high-quality deliverables
- Review and approve highway, roadway, bicycle, and pedestrian design work products including plans, cost estimates, and technical reports
- Serve as the primary client point of contact, managing day-to-day communication and fostering long-term client relationships and delivering solutions that meet and exceed expectations
- Represent the firm at client meetings, public involvement events, and professional organizations such as APWA and ASCE
- Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to staff
- Support business development through proposal development, scoping, fee negotiation, and client pursuits
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the state of employment, or ability to be registered with reciprocity
- 10+ years of related roadway design experience for state and municipal transportation clients
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, MicroStation or OpenRoads
- Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
- Servant leader committed to fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence while developing others
