Senior Safety Specialist

The ideal candidate will have previous safety experience supporting facility startups, commissioning, or the transition from construction to operations, preferably within natural gas, or power station operations. The role may also provide safety training, expected to account for approximately 10% of the candidate's time.

Responsibilities

• Support the transition of the LNG facility from construction into operational startup.
• Develop and implement safety procedures and processes for the new facility.
• Work closely with the operating team to identify safety risks and ensure readiness for startup.
• Provide safety guidance and support throughout commissioning and initial operations.
• Review operational procedures and work practices to ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements and company standards.
• Identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate controls and corrective actions.
• Support development of facility safety programs, procedures, and documentation.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, project, and other site personnel to establish a strong safety culture.
• Provide safety training and education to employees and operating personnel as needed, expected to comprise approximately 10% of the role.
• Participate in startup readiness reviews, safety assessments, and related activities.
• Help ensure the facility is prepared to begin operations safely and effectively.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of safety experience.
• Experience with facility startup, commissioning, operational readiness, or transitioning a facility from construction to operations preferred.
• Experience in LNG operations and/or power station operations strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industrial safety practices and operational safety.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with operating teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Ability to develop safety procedures and provide training.
• Minimum High School Diploma required.
